Can anyone recommend some really good blues music?

I like slow blues with really good guitar riffs, but i don't know of too many blues musicians...old stuff or new it doesn't matter. Thanks

Stevie Ray Vaughn & Jimi Hendrix.

I left my kitty in San Francisco

Texas flood
cold shot
the sky is crying

generally anything Stevie ray Vaughn

Stevie Ray Vaughn - Truly great Blues musician.

Also try - BB King, Robert Johnson, Sam Moore, Wilson Pickett, John Popper, 'Skunk' Baxter, Dr. John

John Mayall (not everything is slow) but it's great blues. He's one of the giants. (good albums "The Turning Point" and "Blues form Laurel Canyon".)
BB King (wonderful guitar- classic). BB King has influenced so many people. See the Wikipedia discography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BB_King#Dis...

Here are two of my picks you might find unlikely: Jimi Hendricks does amazing blues guitar on the songs "Little Red School House" and "Voodoo Child" (the live version is best I think).
The other one is the Allman Brothers Band in the albums "Live at the Fillmore East". "Idlewild South" and "The Allman Brothers Band".

Howlin Wolf, Buddy Guy.

stevie ray, my favorite all time, jimi had some awesome blues stuff, bb king obviously, roy rodgers (not the country singer/actor but the bluesman), to a lesser extent some older kenny wayne shepherd, muddy waters, john lee hooker, taj mahal.

Anything by Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, and Robert Cray. For women, check out Etta James and Shemekia Copeland.

If you appreciate The Rolling Stones, one of the best blues/rock albums is from the late 70s by Stones guitarist Ron Wood called "Gimme Some Neck".

Stevie Ray Vaughan-Texas Flood. Jimi Hendrix-Red House. Muddy Waters-Mannish Boy. Johnny Winter-You Keep Saying that You're Leavin'. John Lee Hooker-Sweet Home Chicago. BB King-The Thrill is Gone. Robert Johnson-Crossroad Blues. Those are all some good ones. Jimmy Page(from Zeppelin)-You Know You Shook Me. I've really got to say tho' when I think of the blues Stevie Ray Vaughan is definitely who comes to mind first.

Blues rock's got some great riffs.

Chuck Berry AND

George Thorogood, man.

And friggin' Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Janis Joplin when she was with Big Brother and the Holding Co. Songs like Summertime, Ball and Chain and I need a man to love. Muddy Waters is an old time Blues artist and famous. I even think Robin Trower is blues songs like Bridge of Sighs, excellant! Right now thats all I can think of. Good luck. I forgot Bonnie Raitte and BB King.

Robert Cray, Clapton, BB, Gatemouth, Robert Johnson, Stevie Ray, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters, Koko Taylor, Dr John, Leadbelly, Buddy Guy, Little Walter, Charlie McCoy, John Mayall, Charlie Musselman, Al Kooper, Bonnie Raitt, Roy Buchanan, Johnny and Edgar Winter.

Eric Clapton - From The Cradle
is the best blues CD I've heard.

Eric Clapton quote on Buddy Guy "by far and without doubt the best guitar player alive"

I like Albert King and Bobby Blue Bland.

Both are gifted guitarists and soulful singers.

For riffs, try "Down By the River" by Roy Buchanan. Exquisite!

Check out Joe Bonamassa. He is absolutely incredible. A young player, but a student of the old blues masters and his appreciation of the art form is clearly evident in his playing and singing.

Stevie Ray Vaughn you will love it!

Johnie Lee Hooker is good blues guitar too.

Anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Cray, Bobby"Blue"Bland, Johnnie Taylor, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, BB King, Albert King, Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal, Robert Johnson, Jimmy Reed, Etta James, Elmore James, start there and you can't go wrong.

If you like slow blues, then you have to listen to some Johnny Taylor also known as 'Johnny Taylor the blues whailer'. His music is a must for anyone who likes the blues. This is one of the greatest blues musicians ever. One of my favorites is the song titled 'Somebody's Baby'. among others. Check out Johnny Taylor's Greatest Hits and you will see what I mean. His music is phenominal.

taj mahal, jimmy reed

Yeah ckeck out Howlinwolf, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore,Muddy Walters,Bluestown http://hellolouisville.com/music/Bluesto...

Jonny Lang, he is just crazy good!

Sticking with the REAL Blues and not Rock Blues oriented...

Blind Boy Fuller
Buddy Guy
Robert Johnson
Leadbelly
Professor Longhair
John Lee Hooker
Lightnin' Hopkins
B.B. King
T-Bone Walker
Muddy Waters
Sonny Boy Williamson

The best blues album is Stevie Ray Vaughan - Blues at Sunrise.

i like all the stuff i've seen listed on here, but another that's very good is Johnny Lang, "Lie to Me". he was Buddy Guy's protege and has won some grammys. pretty soulful for a young, white kid.

There are a million answers to this question but I immediately thought of three answers...
1- Howlin' Wolf- he's simple pure deep and scary.
2- Not a P.C. answer but don't listen to white boys.
3- Don't listen to anything recorded after 1970.-K

Odetta

I can't stress enough how great John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers are. Check out the "beano" album ... it has Eric Clapton on it, just doing some of the greatest blues guitar work ever recorded. Mayall with Peter Green is also an oustanding album.

Buddy Guy, as well, is awesome; gotta love Albert King as well. Also, The Yardbirds are **amazing** ... slow and fast blues ... just an awesome, awesome, LOUD jam band.

Check out Gary Moore's "Still Got the Blues"! It has several slow songs and about any type of blues you could want! I think the slow ones are outstanding! I don't even care for slow songs but these ones got to me!
