Why doesn't my A-string tune with my electric tuner? |
The Fender electric tuner tuned all my strings except the A. It tells me to loosen it way too much and it doesn't sound right. I'm a beginner so I dont know how it supposed to sound but it's way to loose to play. Should I tighten it till I think it sounds right or should just leave it and go by what the tuner says? Also you may just have the note so off that the tuner is giving you a confusing message. Play the fifth fret of the sixth string. It should exactly match the open A-string. Try using your ear to tell which way you're off. Like the first guy said, if you're still stuck take it to a music store. Even if the guitar isn't broken they can still help you out. But try doing it the old fashioned way first. Maybe you have a problem with the tuning peg, rather than the tuner itself. Some guitars, especially cheap to moderately priced ones, come with inexpensive machine heads. If the string keeps slipping, it'll always have slack and be out of tune. I'd take it to the local guitar shop, have it looked at, and ask the guitar tech to show you how to tune up. Also, consider buying a pitch pipe. Then you won't have to depend on electronic tuners. change the batteries in the tuner. But if your other strings are correct, just tune it with harmonics. if ya cant do that then use the 5th fret You should tune it to what sounds right, (the fifth fret of the E string), unless you're tone deaf You might be an octave low, I have a 12 string & the thinner strings are tuned an octave higher than the regular strings |
