What do you know about Shuggie Otis?

He is Johnny Otis son. He is supposed to be a great blues guitarist. He recorded his first album at 15 years old I believe. I hear its very good but I have never heard it.

That his "Strawberry Letter 23" was covered by The Bros. Johnson. That's all, really.

Johnny Otis's son..made a couple of solo records and went missing...gonna get all my CDs out of their boxes and set all these stories straight.

He also did an album with Al Kooper, in the 'late'60's , called
"Kooper Session(?)"

Son of famous band leader and musician Johnny Otis of the famous Johnny Otis Show ! His dad did a kind of r&b revue with different vocalist and band members around L.A. clubs in the 1950's & 60's. I believe "Doin' the Hand Jive" was a hit song of his?
Saw Shuggie Otis play a mean strat when he was wet behind the ears (17? ) and he play with his dad and the rock legend Rick Derringer who was on lead guitar! They play as the opening act for Johnny Winters and this was in the famous venue here in Los Angeles area called the El Monte Legion Stadium...in reality it was a small WWII quant-set hut (half round corrugated sheet metal portable building!) It was a packed house and that meant it was cozy and sweaty and it was a night to remember as they blasted the doors off the place and then Winters on slide dam near backed out every screw that was holding that shack together! If you know your small R7R clubs from the late 1960's in LA/OC area then you might remember the other club that was in a quant-set hut also ....was located on the border between Seal Beach and Long Beach right off PCH (you can still see the concert foot print there today...right next to the San Gabriel river channel...it was called
Cosmos!

Shuggie Otis co-wrote the songs, Gift From Virgo and Be With You which were both performed by Beyonc茅 Knowles.
