Help me with some GOOD Blues songs?

My wife just realized she LOVES the blues!! I'm looking for as many songs as you can suggest so I can get them for her. She really likes songs along the lines of "Jesus just left Chicago" by ZZ Top, "Pride and Joy" by Stevie Ray Vaughn. She is not impressed by the "older" stuff like Robert Johnson (cut her some slack, she's from Thailand) but more along the newer stuff with better sound quality. She loves the sad, moaning type vocals, and the "crying" guitar sound. Ok, give em' to me, I know there has to be some serious blues listeners on here somewhere?

Okay. I'll give you some tunes.

"Sweet Home Chicago"- Robert Johnsen (yes I know she doesn't like it but try the Blues Brothers version)
"Pride and Joy"- Stevie Ray Vaughan
"Cold Shot"- Stevie Ray Vaughan
"Love Struck Baby"- Stevie Ray Vaughan
"Dirty Pool"- Stevie Ray Vaughan
"Texas Flood"- Stevie Ray Vaughan
"Boot Hill"- Johnny Winter
"Lights Out"- Johnny Winter (has a sick guitar solo dude)
"The Crawl"- Johnny Winter (or Fabulous Thunderbirds)
"Don't Hide Your Love"- Johnny Winter
"Walkin' Slowly"- Johnny Winter
"All Your Love (I Miss Lovin')"- John Mayell and The Bluesbreakers w/ Eric Clapton
"Hideaway"- John Mayell and The Bluesbreakers w/ Eric Clapton
"Commit A Crime"- Howlin' Wolf
"The Things That I Used To Do"- Stevie Ray Vaughan
"Goin' Home"- James Brown
"Johnny B. Goode"- Chuck Berry (Johnny Winter's version is better)
"Mean Town Blues"- Johnny Winter

Thats just a few that I'd name (not really but I've got more if you want them. Email me if you want my full list). Hope I've helped.

Everything on Eric Clapton's "From the Cradle" album is good also Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of "The Sky is Crying is awesome.

Sorry...

"Serious" Blues listners don't listen to the pure crap you just mentioned (especially Steve Vaughn..please don't insult real musicians by mentioning him in the same breath as a serious blues musician).

You can try some of the seventies stuff by Howlin' Wolf, or Sonny Boy Williamson, or some of the "Southside" cuts by Junior Wells or James Cotton.

It sounds like you're looking for more rock than blues, though

bridge of sighs-robin trower
stormy monday-bobby "blue" bland (or allman bros.)
love in vain (originally by robert johnson but check out rolling stones cover)
badge-eric clapton
blue on black-kenny wayne sheppard
blue jean blues-zz top
any eric clapton, zz top, allman bros., george thoroughgood searches will score you some killer blues rock

Leaving To Stay - Jonny Lang

Mother Nature - Koko Taylor

Midnight Train - Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang

Joe Bonamassa

thriller by michael jackson.
no seriously. just get everything by stevie ray vaughn you can find. try the song.. the sky is crying

I think she might like Gary Moore. His ballads are just like you have described, and his up-tempo stuff will tear your head off.

And a note to brewcityjr: You are SO wrong- you missed the boat big-time on SRV and who "serious" blues fans listen to.

Everything by Johnny Lang is awesome.

bb king - "why i sing the blues" jon lee hooker - "don't look back"
led zepplin-"what is and what should never be" buddy guy - "feels like rain" taj mahal - "that's how strong my love is" bb king - "the letter" actually for great albums start to finish (all cuts with excellent mix) bb king - "blues on the bayou" buddy guy - "the real deal" (live at his club legends - with g.e. smith and the saturday night live band) bb king - "blues summitt" ( a WAY fave of mine) buddy guy - "heavy love" I know tons... let me know how these work out for starters

if she likes the newer sounds in blues pick up theese albums...
