Know of any good electric guitar blues from the 70's or earlier? |
So far I like BB King and the Hendrix Blues album. I just got started in genre, looking to expand my horizons I did one better and created a slide show (with video) of my favorite blue guitarists. You should dig some of these performances: http://www.koollage.com/user/user.shtml?... my fav is jimi hendrix 鈾?/div> bob dylan and eric clapton Get "Calling Card" by Irish blues rocker Rory Gallagher. Paul Butterfield blues band, too. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is some of the best I've heard. Try Sue Foley, she is a newer artist but she plays a mean guitar. find the buddy guy album "stone crazy" awesome stuff. also check out robin trower and johnny winter.good luck your getting into some good stuff! Artists? Try Robbin Trower, Johnny Winter, Allman Bros,Government Mule. IF you want to study the history. Go back to Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon for pre WWII stuff then go into the electric blues beggining with Muddy Waters and start from there. There is a DVDs series I think Spielberg put it together but that will set you on a pretty cool ride and that way you can pick your favorites. I'm a blues harmonica player and singer. Have fun searching. Heres some stuff I like. Buddy Guy, Freddie King, and my fav, Albert Collins Two Words - Robert Johnson. Johnny Winter, Clapton, Peter Green, Roy Buchanan, Freddy, Albert or B.B. King(not related). Duane Allman, Les Dudek, Ry Cooder.Even Carlos Santana did some blues with I believe Louie Shelton years ago.. Not sure if that's how you spell the last name, but he was a studio player who also did some guitar work with Seals and Crofts. going to turn back the clock....try some canned heat |
