Personally, I don't like a whole lot of contemporary blues, so I prefer stuff from the 1930s, 40s...little later. Robert Johnson, Rev. Gary, Lightin' Hopkins is the best. BB King is classic, I like some of his duets. John Mayer and BB have a recent one, I like Clapton and BB together. Little Walter's 'Hate To See You Go' is my favorite blues song of all time. Country Blues, Chicago Blues, etc. Must find your favorite sound, then start digging deeper.

If you like BB, there's a good chance you'll like T Bone Walker. Their styles are similar, but BB is just a slight more contemporary.
West Coast blues, like Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, Chris Cain, Roomful Of Blues, Joe Louis Walker, and Philip Walker are close, but slightly different, to BB's approach. Enjoy!!

Muddy Waters, Memphis Slim, Robert Johnson.

Check out the Chess Blues Collection.

Don't forget Son House or John Mayall.

For "Hip", "Funky' blues, listen to Anthony Gomes. He has been on the music scene since the 90's, and is an amazing artist; Soulful, Rockin, Jammin, positively joint jumping music. His latest CD Release is "Music is the Medicine"

All Stevie Ray Vaughan songs.
