Just bought a blues harp in the key of b?

what fret do i need to put my capo on for it to be in tune with my guitar?

Firstly, I HAVE to ask, why did you buy a B harp? as Rob M says, in Cross-harp (i'll assume you are playing blues?) it plays F#, not a VERY common blues key..

Even in the Minor position, its C#m, again an uncommon key,

As for what fret to Capo to, as long as your guitar is in tune, and you are playing the right chords, they will be in tune to each other.
I arrived late to a gig once, after the rest of the band had laready tuned to a handy keyboard, unfortunatly, the keyboard was a little sharp, so of course my harps all sounded flat to the rest of the band!!(can't tune up a harp)

q

soryyyyyyyyyyyyyy

It depends on your tunung. Blues harp in B corresponds to F# on guitar so 2nd fret if you're playing E A B7.

The key of B? Why B? To tune your guitar to? How long have you been playing guitar? I don't understand why you need a capo.

You don't have to capo a guitar when playing a blues harp in the key of b. If you happen to be playing a song in the key of b, you might want to capo your guitar on the 2nd fret, which makes playing the b chord on a guitar and playing along with your b harp a lot easier, but it certainly isn't necessary.

Hello.......
well if you want to play "straight harp" note for note then you will probably just play an easy progression on guitar of a 1'4'5
as a rock or blues backing....1 B CHORD ; 4 E CHORD ;5F# CHORD.
If you want to get an easier start and like simpler bluesy sounds and bends etc,,,, then you need what is called SECOND position harp.....where you actually use it in different key to the one posted on the harp.
Most bluesy players use it.......its easier to play but quite hard to perfect.
A "C" harp will go with G key songs on guitar.
Your "B" harp will go with.ermmmm.......just checking on my guitar......should be F# capo.

once capo is fitted....... try E SHAPE A SHAPE B SHAPE chords over the harp.......... most of the harp notes should fit.(some wont) youll soon find em !........ then learn bends and stuff........ good luck.

I looked over the answers, the one avatar, that's being playing is right, and another agrees. I cant remember exactly but , the transposition of the Mississippi sax, is I think a 4th down, which would correlate with the 5th up. Someone correct me, pick your guitar key and go back four steps, and pick a harp in that key. And the avatar that pointed out the flip side of the major key pointing out the relative minor, correlates w/4 down.
Basically you put the cart before the wagon. Time to learn git box in "other" key! ..

1st is b flat,2nd is b, 3rd is b sharp(g flat) i beleive
