If you wanted to see a dream Blues show and could only see one, who would it be? BB King or Buddy Guy.?

And any other Blues band opening for them of your choice, living or dead...

I would pick for my opener...Roy Buchahan...Then I have to pick Buddy Guy..I have seen him live many times..as well as B.B. King who I also love. But I must pick Buddy..he is without a doubt one of the greatest live performers I have ever seen!!!
Wow what a show that would be..I never got a chance to see Roy..he died so young..in a very mysterious way...I guess no one will ever know what really happened to him..in that jail cell. He was one of the best guitarist who deserved way more recognition than he received.
Great Q! Thanks!
Ciao

Sorry, I don't think I could choose one or the other!

Ive seen BB's show recently and it was wonderful. I wouldnt mind seeing Buddy either, but a dream concert would have to include Bonnie Raitt!

Well, I'd have to go Buddy Guy because I've seen BB before. To open we'd have to go with Robert Johnson.

BB King with an opening act of Albert King.

Beautiful question, thanks.

I've seen BB King and his band twice.

(If only I could be a member thereof!)

To Answer the Best way I know how:

I'd watch BB 'n band open for Muddy Waters.

Maaaaannn!!

Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Buddy Guy, BB King. With a dream lineup like that who needs an opening act! :-)

B.B. King... run don't walk. I had a chance a few months ago and balked at the 5 hour drive, now I wish I had. How long is he going to be around? GO.

While waiting for Buddy Guy, my opening dream act would be Leadbelly, Blind Lemon, Stevie Ray,Bessie Smith with Eric Clapton to talk it up and get them to join him on some old San Francico tunes done up blues style.

Personally I would just go to the Byron Bay Blues Festival and soak up the righteous melodies.

OF these two choices, definitely Buddy Guy! BB King is good but hes become very commercial.
For an opening blues band I'd pick a band with Mike Bloomfield on guitar, maybe the Paul Butterfield Blues Band or maybe when he backed up Muddy Waters (with Paul Butterfield) for Waters - Fathers & Sons album. Unfortunately Bloomfield died a long time ago so this could never happen.

I've seen both BB King and Buddy Guy on numerous occasions. Without question, BB King puts on the better show. On another note, I've seen many blues artists such as: SRV, Clapton, Hubert Sumlin, Johnnie Johnson, John Mayall, Johnny Winters, Chris Cain, Jimmy Rogers, Carey Bell...etc. I'd have to say the best show I've ever experienced was Jimmy Rogers and his band. They were so good, it goes beyond description. That show was head and shoulders above all other concerts....period.

B.B King and Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix.

I already saw BB King and Buddy Guy play together(with Santana headlining). Great show. I'd see BB again first, with Charlie Patton opening! He was the greatest pre-war blues showman of them all.

Stevie Ray Vaughn.

I would rather see Buddy Guy. But I have to ask why BB or Buddy. Not much on choices are ya. Robert Johnson, T Bone Walker, Robert Cray or the great white hope Stevie Ray Vaughn. There are alot of great players out there. As far as opening acts, maybe Jimi Hendrix or Jimmie Lee Vaughn.

Oh man that is so hard to answer. They're both so awesome. I've never seen either, but I guess I would have to go with...I guess Buddy Guy, but now I'm pissed because I didn't choose BB. Too hard.

Hendrix, definitely Hendrix to open no question about it. Although I feel like he should be the main act.

BB King
