Stevie Ray Vaughn vs. Johnny Winter: who wins?

Before you answer, check out my blog and watch Johnny's version of Mad Dog:
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-1gp69QA8d...

Egad! Listen to the man's chops, at least. Rest assured, SRV did!

OMG....Do I have to choose...I love them both..Johnny Winter is so damned good..been listening to him for yrs. he can play a guitar...many people have no idea..how much talent he has..he is exciting...I blare his cds!
Then there is S.R.V. OMG...Yrs. back when I first heard him..I was like...I must know who that is right now!!! I ran to the music store!!! Albums then!!! LOL...I wore it out!!! Texas Flood is still my all time favorite!!!!! They are both great..who wins? I have to go with S.R.V. But really that is not a easy choice..both have different styles..with so much talent. But when Stevie got zoned it was incredible...!!! Can I throw in a couple others...Slash..Buddy Guy..!!!!
Thanks what a Q!
Ciao!

Stevie

Stevie Ray Vaughn. No contest there.

Stevie Ray Vaughn

Gotta go with my man, Stevie Ray Vaughn!

without a doubt stevie ray vaughan!

mr vaughn

Johnny Winter is great , but I enjoy Stevie Ray Vaughn much more, just heard more of his music.

Stevie Ray for sure! I loved the Winter boys, but Stevie Ray is the best!

SRV is the greatest genius that EVER picked up an electric guitar, period. There was/is/will always be SRV; the rest are simply the rest.

F.Y.I.: I have followed Johnny Winter's career for years now, and thoroughly enjoy his style, voice and mastery of the electric guitar. Having said that, the only "winner" here, if there is one, is the audience/the listener whose soul is touched by the artist. What I'm telling you here is: No one's music and guitar virtuosity has ever touched "this humble listener's soul" more than SRV's authentic, heart-crying, and majestic sound. SRV's contribution to music and humanity shall never be forgotten - despite a brilliant life cut so tragically short and a core transdimensional sound so unjustly underrated.

Johnny Winter!! Not only can he play great electric guitar, but his acoustic playing is equally amazing. He can play slide like a monster, something SRV didn't do too often. Johnny's the more versatile of the two...

Love them both, but Johnny Winter is my choice of the two. I've seen them both in concert and both were great. That was a hard decision.

Thats a tough one... I cant pick!

Having seen and heard both, I say SRV, but it's a close one!

STEVIE!!!

He is simply amazing.

This is a tough one. I would probably go with Stevie Ray Vaughn, although Johnny Winter - Progressive Blues Experiment Is one of my favorite CDs.
Stevie Ray Vaughn!!!!!!
But I prefer Mike Bloomfield and Roy Buchanan (early years) over these two.

Tough One.. Johnny great slide on Hwy. 61 and good acoustic blues..
Stevie great with the band.. Like them both in the day..
but over all.. I'd have to say.. ah...
geez..
mmm.
Neither, I'd have to go with Chris Cain

From a technical standpoint, it's Johnny all the way. He'd smoke Stevie onstage in a headcutting contest(I saw Jeff Beck do it). From a heart/soul standpoint, I'd go with SRV. He could make you feel a lot more that JW.

SRV baby!
