Care to share your favorite Stevie Ray Vaughan song(s)?

As always, share any thoughts you'd like also.

Love to hear from the Blues snobs. You SHOULD be happy that, no matter how diluted, he brought Blues to those who wouldn't have been turned on to the Blues otherwise.

Hell of a lot better to like SRV than some of the other garbage that is so popular these days, don't you think?

NOT everyone is the Blues purist that you obviously are! It takes all kinds, Brewcity! Loosen up, man!

One of his that always gets me is "Life by the Drop".

Thanks, I appreciate the votes. Report It

texas flood

I love his version of Little Wing its one of my favorite songs you can just feel the emotion pouring out of his guitar

Texas Flood

Texas Flood, Cold Shot and Couldn't Stand the Weather

His versions of Little Wing and VooDoo Child (Slight Return) are awesome

Gimme Back My Wig..

Don't know why.. just have always loved it.. it's fun!

Anything he did was phenomenal.. Such talent!

R.I.P. Stevie.

If this house is a rockin don't bother knockin

"Life by the Drop" is one of my favorites. He also has one of the best versions that I have heard of "The Sky is Crying".

"Testify" on the unplugged album, amazing.
"Pride and Joy"
"Rude Mood" also unplugged.
"Leave my Girl ALone"

Too many to count. One of the greatest.

His version of the old Howlin Wolf song "Shake For Me" on the Beginnings disc.

Life Without You

Lenny

and Dirty Pool are all fav's that get regular spins at home or on my radio show.

Couldn't Stand The Weather is a stand out for me.

All his music is great but I prefer the slow ones: Little Wing, Texas Flood, etc.

Couldn't Stand The Weather and Little Wing. I've been playing my own version of Little Wing since Hendrix released it years ago!

Tightrope, Texas Flood, Crossfire

Couldn't Stand the Weather
&
Scuttlebuttin' (just beacuse it let you know how fast this dude could play and how real he was)

I guess I'll have to share my thoughts, because as a lover of blues (chicago, delta, peidmont, 20's & up), I seem to be the only one (other than a handfull of blues lovers like myself) to realize that Stievie Ray Vaughn was pure crap. He was an imitator, and although he played with a few blues musicians, he himself knew as much about the blues as I do of quantum mechanics. He destroyed the blues music scene for traditional blues players (as a country-blues musician, do you have ANY idea how many drunk idiots walk up to me and ask me if I know any of his crap....not only that but they want me to do a cover of HIS cover...did he EVER have any original songs?). Stieve Ray Vaugn was a detriment to the preservation of real blues music, and cheesy as hell. I'm not glad the man is dead, I'm just glad he aint playing!

rivera paradise and lenny are the best soft instrumentals ive heard in a long time and im a big fan of wall of denial

life without you
tin pan alley
pride and joy (natch)
texas flood
granted, most of these are covers, but he made them his own.

In no paticular order, some favorites:
Rude Mood - love the rock'abilly feel.
The House is Rockin' - nothin' like getting a room shakin'.
Let Me Love You Baby - makes love to this song with his guitar.

Riviera Paradise i can kinda loose myself in this song there aren't to many tunes out there i can say that about.
