Just in case, you should see a doctor so the damage doesn't get worse. Maybe you have some kink of carpal tunnel disease or tendonitis. By all means rest your hands for a week or so. Maybe icing up a couple times a day and taking an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen (Advil),or aspirin may help. I play guitar but never had this problem.

Give them some time to heal, maybe a week or two. Your calluses don't need to be super hard to play. Mine are still kind of soft and I play bass.

if chords are all you play then NO NO NO! you should try learning some scales, hammering techniques, pull offs and bending techniques. go to youtube.com and look for videos called justinguitar.com
they will help you. and never stop playing, you need to play at least 3 hrs a day if you wanna harden up. these are all steps in making fingers stronger and quicker.

calm down man
go and c a doctor, he may give u some kind of thing to take the pain away

1. Quit biting your fingers!
2. Let them heal for a few days
3. Be patient, with practice you'll get some toughness back in the fingertips.
4. Callouses are not the "be all end all" of guitar playing - my fingers have softened a bit after not gigging every night for years, and i still play as good....even better.

First off, take some time off from the guitar to let your fingers heal up (And QUIT BITING THEM!!!) Next, get ready to re ingrain those callouses. Although somewhat painful, one way to better develop callouses is to dip the tips of each finger into a small cap-full of rubbing alcohol. After you dip each finger use your thumb to "work" the alcohol deeper into each finger. This will help you develop callouses better, hope this helps. Later!

Quit biting your fingers. Use hand lotion if they get dried out. Don't put them anywhere near your mouth. Let them heal for a few days then go back to practicing. Playing scales in all 12 positions or more will develop wrist strength, strengthen your fingers and develop muscle memory and dexterity.. Lately I haven't played.. probably a week off,but My fingers are still callused from 40+ years of playing. Good luck.

learn some fingerpicking that always helps and its fun music to play

I've played for over 40 years and I've never had calluses except from my first guitar, which had about 1/2" action. My suggestion is to take you ax to Sam Ash or Guitar Center (or any competent guitar shop to have your action fixed.

Slow down, Doc - you got the rest of your life to play. Stop and analyze what you need to do - you would know best.

well it depends .. one day i was messing around with sliding my fingers up and down. like hardcore slide lol.. and my fingers hurt BAD but the calluses where as well hardcore. but of course the key would be too bite your opposite hand. i have the same problem but i dont get nervy, its just a habit that i picked up when i was small. what i do it bite the tips but i dont bite the skin off i just gnaw so there is no pain after awhile. another thing i did was let my nails grow out and i would run my teeth on the inside. ( ofcorse with clean nails)...but probbly the best solution would to figure out what is causing you to be nervy and fix this..if its a habbit and you want to get rid of it just use a straw to chew on............oh yeah and DONT quit... and yes. learn scales minor pen

Quit Bitting!!!! Give them time to heal. But if you feel the urge to play like me, Then get super glue and put a little on your playing fingers, BUT DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!!! Let it dry. Super glue comes off. But it would be better to let you fingers heal and they will if you stop bittin them
