Got any ideas? Also, wat's your opinion on "Blues You Can Use". If you got any good ones, please suggest them. Thank you. Its better to read up on blues boxes look those up on yahoo or wiki and learn to improvise listen to the greats like BB and Albert And Stevie and no matter what you do never play without heart The best guitar method is You Can Play Guitar, which you can see at their website http://www.guitartabbooks.com
They offer a free blues lesson with the sound file and then send you the tab. It's a great lesson and the tab teaches you how to play ryhtm and lead together for blues, and the teacher Scott Morris even answers questions by email and send you a ton of useful and helpful information if you become a student. He's a great guy and been most helpful to me. I tried a few of the other blues courses and seemed confusing. Scott Morris explains things so that it's super easy to understand, and unlike the other guys I bought lessons from, who wouldnt even answer me email, Scott Morris also offers live chat and email support for his students.
Also, he has a ton of great free blues lessons on his site. I have been tio nearly every guitar site out there and I can tell you...save yourself alot of time and frustration and give them a try.
Hope that helps give you some insight.
Take care,
Rick Been playing the blues for a lot of years now. Tried books, teachers, etc.
I kid you not, the BEST thing you can do is PUT DOWN the books, and do two things:
1) Get recordings. Old 78's, public Domain material, blues from the 20's and 30's. Listen, absorb every note. Learn parts you like by ear - no matter how painfully slow that seems.
2) PLAY with other musicians. Even if you think you're too good, or not good enough. Feel their feel, and let them feel yours.
Oh, one more thing - live hard. That's the part that sucks. Open yourself up to your own life experiences. Let that come through in your blues. |
