Backing tracks?

i play blues guitar and i'd like acd that i can jam too without it only lasting 1 or 2mins any recomendations please

You can download about an album's worth of material from Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" website. They have a variety of styles so you can figure out which one you like. Other than that, any big enough music store (where they sell instruments) should have something like what you are looking for. You can also make your own arrangements if you have the right "looping" software, or you could do what I do - just play along to what's on the radio. I listen to 1.FM Blues on the internet radio and frequently just jam out right along to it. It works great and you don't have to buy a CD!

Guitar blues seem simple to play, but very hard to make it sound right and not overplay. Jamming is cool, but not always necessary to put a song over in front of an audience.
I'd personally love to add 24 bars of Hendrix style blues throughout a tune, but have found that it ends up sounding like you're just showing your chops for no real reason.

In blues, traditional or contemporary, the song has to really have meaning. Sometimes the guitar actually takes some of the feeling away, despite being a guitar showcase.
You have to pick and choose when extended solos add to the song, rather than take from it.
Try checking out guitar players from the past 20 years and maybe you'll see what I mean. Little Jimmy King, Joe Louis Walker, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Derek Trucks, Albert Cummings, Coco Montoya, Tinsley Ellis, Roy Buchanan, Johnny Winter, Albert Collins, B B King, Elvin Bishop, Albert King, and Chris Thomas King, Tab Benoit are just a few examples of killer guitarists who don't use "overkill", and are very effective at showing their chops.
Blues may seem simple, but the secret is in the subtleties of the playing.....nobody wants to hear a band dominated by harp, guitar, piano, or B3 keyboards. It's all about ensemble playing, and stepping out for a monster solo when it's your time. Then you gotta get back into the groove.
