Can anyone give me the names of some instrumental blues albums, artists, or tracks?

I was just listening to a Jimi Hendrix song called Jelly 292 from the Blues album. I really liked it and now I want to listen to more songs like it. I know SRV had a few good instrumental tracks, but after that I am drawing a blank. Anyway, thanks.

Recently got a best answer for this. Always fond of instrumentals.

Also try some Mike Bloomfield.

ummm blue huh - my favorite blues would be an oldie but goodie Van Morrison. some other faves would be BB king - a classic also I am diggin John Mayers new album for a light blues feel.

There's a million cool blues instrumental tunes. Most blues records have a couple. Let's see. . .

Jelly 292 is a kind of heavy and psychadelic shuffle. You might like Cream. They played some heavy blues. Find some live Derek and the Dominoes. Also, early Allman Brothers might turn you on. (Live at the Filmore for both bands...) There was also a Derek and the Dominoes Layla boxed set that had a whole disc of jams. You'll like those.

Freddie King's "Hideaway" is a classic blues guitar instrumental. If you want old school, Try T-Bone Walker. Jazz blues guitar instrumentals, try Kenny Burrell. I'm just cruising my ipod.... what about the J. Geils Band? "Sno Cone" is a cool one.

Guitar Rag - Sylvester Weaver - 1923
St. Louis Blues - W.C. Handy - 1925
A Handful of Riffs - Lonnie Johnson and Eddie Lang - 1927
Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground - Blind Willie Johnson - circa 1927 (If you never heard this one, it is a MUST HEAR)

george throughgood "bad to the bone"

Two of my favorites are by the Master, Little Walter. They are harp instrumentals. His style is very big city and urban, rather than folky/country. They are:

Fast Large One

For guitar, probably my favorite is Scuttle Buttin', of course by SRV. Johnny Winter plays some excellent solos that are so long you'd swear they were instrumentals. very good.

Check out Jeff Beck's "Blow By Blow" album. Technically a progressive jazz record, it's design is based on blues. It is really good. Also, Allman Bros. "Live At The Filmore East" may as well be an instrumental blues album. Not much singing (Greg Allman is great ), just a lot of jamming!

You might check out some Danny Gatton albums. They are a mix of blues, rock, jazz, but a lot of instrumental masterpieces played on guitar.

Al Kooper, Little Walter, Shuggie Otis, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray, Roy Buchanan, John Mayall, Johnny Winter.
