Best Version of layla by eric clapton?

I personally don't like the derrick and the dominoes version, is there a better version on an album live or something? like this one http://youtube.com/watch?v=D2sfelvHAlU

I like the original version the best. Its one of the best "unrequited love songs" in the blues-rock genre', EVER, imho. About the only thing I can suggest is that another artist might do a version that you like - just like what Jimi Hendrix did with Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower", or Johnny Winter's version of Bob Dylan's "Highway 61".

I personally like the unplugged version.

There is an "unplugged" version of the song. I prefer the Derek and the Dominoes version.

With Eric, its all good........

Try the version from the "Unplugged" album (Reprise Records CD 9362-45024-2)

I like both of Clapton's versions - but what tips the balance for me in favor of the original is that wonderful piano coda at the end which is absent from the unplugged version.

I like the original hit version. It is a classic.

How can you not like the original? It's all there, from a uptempo blues rock section to a slow, moving piano driven ending.

I call the unplugged version "Lame-la". The original has so much passion in it!
