Does Anyone Remember That Young Blues Guitarist...?

That came to be quite popular about 10+ years ago?
If memory serves me correct, he was young white kid, about 17 or 18 and could really play 'blues' like the best of them.

He got all sorts of accolades from some of the current 'greats', such as B.B. King and got a lot of 'air time' on some of the more urban radio stations.

I want to say his first name was 'Johnnie', but don't remember. If anyone might know who I'm talking about, I'd really appreciate the helpful reminder.

Thanks-

Johhny lang is his name. He is an excellent musician. Darker Side is a great song.

Johnny Lang

Johnny Lang

Jamie Eubanks?

I saw BB King play with that kid once but it was YEARS ago. not sure if that was him or not but he'd be about the same age, could be him...

His name is Johnny Lang, he released a new album not too long ago. I believe he was actually 16 at the time he recorded his first album. Another one to check out if you are into blues is Kenny Wayne Sheppard who was also coming on the scene at the same time at a young age, 18 or 19 I think. His dad was Stevie Ray Vaughn's roadie and Stevie taught him how to play...Awesome stuff!

It might be Joe Bonamassa. He opened for B.B. King... when he was 12 years old. He is about 28 years old now, so ten years ago he would have been around 18. I am a blues-rock guitarist and I think Joe is one of the best in the world, possibly THE best in his style. I would LOVE to be able to hold my own with Joe on stage, and am hoping to be able to jam with him someday. Johnny Lang is cool, but Joe Bonamassa can probably "play circles around him". Joe is definitely one of the best blues-rock guitarists around today, so if you are into that style you should definitely check him out.

Johnny Lang is probably the guy you remember. However, it is possible that you're thinking of Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Lang has a great voice, especially considering his age. KWS is primarily a guitarist and has a "hired gun" on his albums doing most of the vocal chores.

Shepherd underwent rehab and came out with version 2 not too long ago.

Lang is from North Dakota. Shepherd is from Louisiana.

Both, being so young when they hit it big, have matured quite a bit since we were first introduced to them.

Check out the AllMusic overviews that I've posted below for more info.

are you sure you're not talking about Kenny Wayne Shepherd? He came out about the same time and shredded the blues.
