Good blues bands? |
I'm a huge fan of rock music but recently I've been getting really into blues music. Can anyone recommend some good blues bands for me. roomful of blues joe bonnamassa is a good one I've been a blues fan ever since I discovered the Paul Butterfield Blues Band as a kid in the 60s and I've heard (via recording, radio, TV or in person) most of the greats, both black & white. I'll limit my list to some of my favorites who are still with us: Walter Trout, Downchild Blues Band,Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze, Keb Mo, Susan Tedeschi, Debbi Davies. These are just a few of the bands that I listen to. Most of them are modern groups. Also check out some older acts like Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Etta James, Elmore James, Son House, John Lee Hooker and Otis Rush. There are a whole bunch of really great bands out there that play a lot of amazing music. Welcome to the blues and enjoy. Try out Houndog Taylor and the Houserockers. Dick Dale Paul Butterfield Blues Band Hi,try some Bondi Cigars,Jimi Hocking,Have Blues will travel,Powerhouse blues band,Scrub Turkey,Wild turkey,Chris Wilson(harp player)Wos fosters, these are all present day Australian Blues bands, but i also recommend Stevie Ray Vaughn,Charlie Musselwaite,John Lee Hooker,B.B.King,Muddy Waters,Buddy Guy,Etta James,Ruth Brown,Garry Moore,Howlin Wolf,T-Bone Walker,Robert Johnson,Sonny Boy Williamson, hope this helps, there are sooo many more to mention.Have a good day. Paul Butterfield Blues Band Listen to everything everyone above listed except for B.B. King. He's overrated and just a "sentimental staple" of blues. He's a likeable guy and everything, but he can't even play and sing at the same time. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters, Derek Trucks and Howlin' Wolf are some of my favorites. BUDDY GUY! I've seen him about 8 times in concert. He was a major influence on Eric Clapton, SRV, Jimi Hendrix, and he has "adopted" John Mayer. He is electrifying. He is about 67 years old and has more stamina than most. He is a master showman, both on guitar and vocals. bb king Had to addng my two cents regarding the B.B. King remark since that person is clearly not a guitar player. Along with a very few others such as Muddy Waters and T-Bone Walker, B.B. King virtually invented electric guitar blues playing and has been credited with being a huge influence by every one from Buddy Guy to Stevie Ray to Eric Clapton to Michael Bloomfield and everyone in between. His early fifties stuff is especially powerful, and he can still play the sh*t out of a guitar at an age when most people are retired or dead! Dirtball and the Fox Valley Players! |
