Have you seen BB King Solo? What are some songs he played?

Everything I have of his are collaborations so I have no idea what to expect other than Thrill is Gone , Rock Me Baby, When love comes to Town. I love the song Hummingbird that he did with John Mayer. Is that one a staple?

I know he has a ton that are not collaborations, I just don't have them.

I've seen him a half a dozen times, always playing solo (with his band, of course). Most shows he plays staples- The thrill is Gone, How Blue Can You Get, Paying the Cost to be the Boss, Caledonia, and so many others. He does have a considerable repertoire and does, on occasion play less often heard songs.

If you are looking for a good selection of his staple songs, look for a greatest hits CD. I have one called "Why I Sing the Blues" that I keep in the car with me all the time. I play it once in a while if I need some cheering up.. for a man who plays songs about being done wrong all the time, he can sure make me happy!

Long live the (B.B.) King!

I saw him about a year ago. The songs I remember:

"Why I Sing The Blues", "Paying The Cost To Be the Boss", "Let The Good Times Roll," "The Thrill is Gone," "I'll Still Be Around" and "I'm A Poor Man But I'm A Good Man."

I have seen B.B. live twice and would love to again! Some of my favorites are Caldonia, Since I Met You Baby, How Blue Can You Get and Lucille.

He has a TON of albums that are not collaborations.

A good one is ""Live at San Quentin"

Hi! Yes, I've seen him several times. My days of seeing B.B. go back to when he would still play standing up (poor man has bad knees).

B.B. King plays a lot of blues standards, but has recorded a ton of albums and writes a lot of his own songs as well. For the most part, his shows include his standards.

I'm not sure "hummingbird" would be considered a standard- yet, but I'll bet he would play it live. If you get a chance to see him live- GO! He's a tremendous showman and is still an excellent guitarist. He won't be around forever.. and that's a shame.

There are a ton of non-collaborative BB King albums out there. I'm assuming you probably have Blues Summit, which was his grammy-winning duets album from a few years ago, and 80 which came out 2 years ago.

When I saw him back in November of last year live he played "Why I Sing the Blues," "3 O'Clock Blues/Sweet Sixteen" as a medley, which are some of his earlier catalog staples pre-1965, "Rock Me Baby," "Let the Good Times Roll," "I'm A Good Man," "Sweet Little Angel," "The Thrill Is Gone," "Paying the Cost to Be the Boss," among others.

He's a treat to go see. Enjoy.
