Any Johnny Winter fans out there? |
If you like blues that is raw with tons of heart and soul, then PLEASE check out Johnny Winter! This dude has been jamming a long time and he aint stopped. Never one to fall into the mainstream of it all, Johnny has kept the blues real. Any fans out there!? Slayer06...All I have to say to you is WOW! First off let me say...Slayer 06, I hope you didn't get rid of those albums. I would keep them for sentimental reasons since they belonged to your dad. I'm a fan of both johnny and his brother Edgar (even though Edgar is a Scientologist) for two albinos they sure aren't afraid of the public yep and Jonny Lang too i saw him when he was 12 in MN he was incredible! Oh yeah and i love the Edgar Winter group. Nope. They only come out at night. i was 4-1/2 years old when i went to woodstock with my father in my 5 uncles in august 1969 they all have his music my father has every one of johnny winter's album in he has about 3 are 4 of the album's even signed by johnny winter he has over 165 song's till this day i was hoping that you seen him in london doing a concert this year in 2007 any way my father had passed away 10-20-05 he had just turned 67 years old 10-13-05 any ways i went to his house in started to look around with my mother in found this chest that weight about 200 pounds are more any way open it up in started to look around in by god there they where all johnny winter's album's had called up a guy that knew a little about how nuch they would be if i sold them in he came over in took them with him in 1 week later he had came back with all of my album's in told me to sit down that he had to tell me how much they were worth so i did in he told me that they were worth over $2,500.00 dollars in he did not mention that the 3 that was signed by johnny winter's 1969-1971-1974 were worth by them self any were between 250.00 to 425.00 dollars by them selfs Oh yeah. I am so impressed with Johnny. I happened to check him out at the Delaware Riverfront Blues Fest last year. He is very febel and has to sit the whole time. But don't let that fool you . His fingers still move faster than your mind. Johnny Winter is probably the most underrated guitarist and singer out there. Johnny has proven himself equally adept in blues, R&B and rock-n-roll genres. His slide guitar playing is second to none and he is one of the few who have adventured with the Gibson Firebird guitar. I dig Johnny Winter! OF COURSE!! I LOVE HIM! if u like him u must be in to SRV yep livin down here on parchman farm White Lightening! Big fan. first i heard of johnny was the 'eye of the storm' album, and i almost poopied my pants. I've been a huge fan of his since the late 60's. I own everything he's ever done on vinyl and much of his catalog on CD as well. I've seen him in concert 8 times, the first being in 1971(I think) at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. I took vacation last November, and spent about 500 bucks on tickets, hotel, gas, etc. etc. just to get the chance to see this living legend. I sat in the sound booth a while and the sound man said this was the best he had seen Johnny play in a while. I like to think he did it for me. He is getting very fragile, at 63 he is virtually blind. He played and sang like it was his love, and I'm sure it is. Would I do it again? Is the bear catholic? Does the pope **** in the woods? Heck yes I would! Sorry about this but we had looked forward to seeing Johnny since we were kids in 1968...Finally..Sydney's Hordern Pavilion 1986..feeling good..brought out to OZ by Hell's Angels..He hit the stage astride a horse so pissed he fell off and began a rambling set of 4/4 rock n roll for 90 mins at least..no blues..no slide work..no nothing..just a muck of speed, beer and.....oblivion.We were disgusted and fu8ked off..so disappointed. We are still fans but fu8k him.Johnny, you fuc8ing suck for that. I first saw Johnny Winter in 1970 with his original band, Tommy Shannon and Uncle John Turner. Edgar Winter guested on a few songs. What an incredible night. Johnny used an ancient Fender electric 12 strong for slide playing. |
