Can any one give me some good Blues artists?? |
I like Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton, Bill Thomas.. you get the idea more interested in the guitar than the vocals- any ideas? Okay, great blues guitarists - B.B. King, Muddy Waters , some of Jimmy Pages work with Led Zeppelin my favorite is BB King Alicia Keys and Mary J Blidge lead belly (early blues) Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy oh the list is endless. but heres a few Keb' Mo, John Lee Hooker Try Stevie Ray Vaughan,Peter Green,Buddy Guy,John Lee Hooker,Robert Cray (I recommend the Bad Influence cd) or Kenny Wayne Shephard.Maybe get a various blues cd and see if you enjoy any of the artists,if so,try their albums. B. B. King Tinsley Ellis, Walter Trout, Eric Sardinas, Tab Benoit, Bill Perry (god rest his soul), Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze, Rod Piazza, Studebaker John. These are a few that are out now that haven't been named all ready. Sweet Daddy, Rod and Studebaker all add some harmonica to the mix. Oh, I forgot Kenny Neal, and Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin. By the way, I've seen all but Tab and Bill live and they are all great. Sadly, Bill Perry left us this year to hang out with that great big band in the sky. He will be missed. For the real thing: Albert King, Freddie King, BB King -- that's where Clapton learned his chops. Greg Koch John Lee Hooker,Stevey Ray Von,Robert Cray. Stevie Ray Vaughan The above lists are pretty complete but I want to add my 2 cents, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Stevie Ray Vaughn and there's a guy out there called Albert Cummings who plays a BLAZING blues guitar, he's from Massachusetts and you can find his CD on CD baby, not sure if Amazon has him. If you ever get the chance to see him, GO, he'll blow your mind if you love the guitar. Try Johnny Winters, T Bone Walker, Hound Dog Taylor, Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Allman Brothers, Albert Collins, Freddie King, John Lee Hooker could be just a few to start with. B.B. King lots of great guitarists already mentioned, interested in any horn players? Almost every jazz great has played some deep blues,...wynton Marsalis, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Bird, Luis Armstrong, joe oliver, oscar peterson (piano) charlie christian (gtr) django rienhardt (gtr) marcel dadi(fingerstyle gtr.)and nobody has mentioned john mayall-who had so many blues rockers go through his band the blues breakers,...guys like jeff beck and ERIC CLAPTON. |
