These gentlemen are my favorites...

Aaron.

Tinsley Ellis, Walter Trout, Eric Sardinas, Tab Benoit, Bill Perry (god rest his soul), Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze, Rod Piazza, Studebaker John. These are a few that are out now that haven't been named all ready. Sweet Daddy, Rod and Studebaker all add some harmonica to the mix. Oh, I forgot Kenny Neal, and Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin. By the way, I've seen all but Tab and Bill live and they are all great. Sadly, Bill Perry left us this year to hang out with that great big band in the sky. He will be missed.

For the real thing: Albert King, Freddie King, BB King -- that's where Clapton learned his chops.

Also, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy.

For white guys playing the blues -- Jeff Beck (earliest stuff)
Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Savoy Brown, Ten Years After, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers ( Fleetwood, MacVie, Clapton, Mick taylor all played in that band) Rory Gallagher, Johnny Winter, Allman Brothers

The above lists are pretty complete but I want to add my 2 cents, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Stevie Ray Vaughn and there's a guy out there called Albert Cummings who plays a BLAZING blues guitar, he's from Massachusetts and you can find his CD on CD baby, not sure if Amazon has him. If you ever get the chance to see him, GO, he'll blow your mind if you love the guitar.

Try Johnny Winters, T Bone Walker, Hound Dog Taylor, Buddy Guy, John Mayall, Allman Brothers, Albert Collins, Freddie King, John Lee Hooker could be just a few to start with.
