Classic blues artists? |
I am looking for some classic blues artists who play acoustic. I like Bo Didly or Hound Dog Taylor, yet was wondering what else is there. Could you recommend some easy to pick up sounds for a beginner to play and sing yet sound really great to an audience? For fairly simple straight forward stuff that ALWAYS pleases and audience, you can't beat Leadbelly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeMRIu43q... Robert Johnson , doesn't get more classic than that! sorry I guess I didn't read the question right. I thought you were asking for acoustic blues players to listen to. Of course Robert Johnson would be very difficult to Emulate. I stand corrected. Keb Mo is not a classic blues artist but he has some great acoustic stuff that is not too difficult to play. Try typing in acoustic blues on your favorite search engine. You'll come up with a bunch. Seems like most people don't read the question. Hmmm, you might like to get ahold of John Lee Hooker, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Albert King, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, Lightnin' Hopkins, Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf, B B King, Amos Wilborn, Gatemouth Moore, Memphis Slim, Eddie Boyd, Willie Dixon, Roy Milton, Elmore James, Skip James, Pinetop Perkins, Little Willie Littlefield, PeeWee Crayton, Muddy Waters, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Jimmy Reed are a few that come to mind. If you want to go WAY back, check out some Tampa Red, Ma Rainey, Memphis Minnie, Blind Willie Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, Lead Belly, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Joshua White and of course Robert Johnson. Just to name a few. |
