How 'bout Robin Trower? |
i think it's excellent, that more of the younger crowd is stepping away from empty, shallow, no heart, no soul, so-called 'music', and going back a little in music's history to discover some genuine treasures. Happy, that is an excellent choice of song to try to introduce someone to Trower. For the best album experience I would suggest his live album. I love Bridge of Sighs Y'know, I got nothing against Robin Trower. Yeah, The " Bridge of Sighs " LP is a classic & " Too Rolling Stoned ' is one of my favorites on the album. It's people like you that keep this music alive. I was in college in the late 70's. Everybody had the Bridge of Sighs album. Brings back great memories. Well, he ain't blues and he ain't Hendrix (as he really wanted to be). Yeah, not the best looking of guys, but man, what he can do with a Stratocaster !! Beautiful sounds Try to get a bootleg of his shows at Capitol Theater, Passaic NJ, early 1980s. On Fire! Bridge of Sighs' low rhythym is unbeatable. Yeah, a lot of people accuse Trower of being too "Hendrix-ish" , and i just never saw that - aside from the use of simillar gear , and that never counts. I had that live LP back in the day too - it looked like he was running about 5 fett of pedals! LOL! I hadn't heard about kids checking Trower out these days , but that sounds like a great idea. Maybe next , there will be a re-discovery of guys like Frank Marino , Pat Travers , Rick Derringer, etc. makes that guitar "sing" |
