What can I use as a replacement case for my harmonica? |
I have a Hohner Special 20. Everything I read recommends that you keep your original case to keep it in even if you are throwing it in your pocket (lint is no good for them). I have lost the case to that one and it is one of my easier ones to play. I still want it in my pocket. Any ideas on what would make a good replacement case for a diatonic harp? Here is a picture of some on an 8 1/2 x 11in sheet of paper: http://www.drfeelgood.de/images/equipmen... If its just the one harp, may I suggest a mobile phone case? there are hundreds on the market, it would be ideal for a lone harp. I was going to pick up a load from Ebay, but in the end my step mother made me a roll with lots of pockets from a piece of leather. One of those cases for eyeglasses or shades cases (those are bigger). A glasses case might work. I am not sure how big it is. If it is small enough get a padded eye glass case. There are little cases for eyeglasses that you could use (sold for fairly cheap at local drug-stores) which should work. Just make one out of stiff (non-corrugated) cardboard, or even wood if you have soem tools. Actually, I think the eyeglass case is a good idea. You can get one for a buck at one of the chinese dollar stores. You seem to have rejected that idea. Seydel has long marketed it's harmonicas with a leather sleeve. Hering has also started to do that. I have Hering Super 20 and some Free Blues that come with a leather pouch. Huang has the smallest boxes on the market in that they are not much bigger than the harmonica. If that answer doesn't do it for you, try a ziplock bag, or a handkerchief, a jewelery bag, a piece of felt, or some combination of the same concepts. I really think a piece of cloth and a rubber band will do the trick if you are in a hurry. what works great for most of my harps is a pocket knife pouch. If you shop around a little you should be able to find one that's a perfect fit for what you need. |
