Best Blues album of all time?

Best Blues album of all time?

Martin Scorsese Presents THe Blues A musical Journey

Similar to the first two answers, but this one is a five disc set that runs from 1920 to about 2000

GREAT cross section of music, if you're only going to have one, this is a good one.

Other good ones I have run across:
B.B. King - Live at San Quentin
John Lee Hooker - Sentimental Journey
T-Bone Walker - Complete Imperial recordings
Robert Johnson - Complete Recordings

Martin Scorcese Presents the Blues: Soul of a Man

I know maybe it's too new, but the best blues album to me is the soundtrack for Wim Wenders' "Soul of a Man", a documentary which is part of the series "The Blues", coordinated by Martin Scorsese and which talks about the lives of Blind Lemon Jefferson, J.B. Lenoir and Skip James.

It's so good I can listen to it several times a day.

Edit: HOLY SHITE!!! I am really surprised that that guy above me had the same opinion as me!!!

T-Bone Walker ~ Papa Ain't Salty

I don't have an album but muddy waters, howlin wolf and harpo are the only blues i listen to because they are the originals

Album?

I had an old Muddy Waters record that played at 33.3

Thank God for recordings.

"Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live." Muddy, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins, Johnny Winters...That was one smokin album! "Nine Below Zero" has what may be the most searing blues guitar riff ever recorded.
Finally, a question in the Blues category!! Instant star!!

Check out Stevie Ray Vaughans Live At Carnegie Hall, that is a really great album. Also here are some other good blues albums.

Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
Chuck Berry - Greatest Hits
Stevie Ray Vaughan - The Sky Is Crying
B.B King - My Kind Of Blues
Robert Johnson - The Complete Recording
Gary Moore - Back On The Streets

Also a good film about the blues is Crossroads with Ralph Maccio (Karate Kid)in.

Hope this was helpful :)

King Of The Delta Blues - Robert Johnson

I don't know if it's the best since that is so subjective, but Buddy Guy's "Sweet Tea" album is killer, from beginning to end.

Robert Palmer - Drive

Jimi Hendrix - Blues

Various Artists - In the Mood for The Blues

Any Howling Wolf album with Smokestack Lightnin'

Luther Allison... Soul Fixin Man
Buddy Guy....Damn Right I got the Blues
Tommy Castro...Can't Keep a Good Man Down

3 great ones to start with

Impossible to say but a great compilation would have to be Scorcese's presents the Blues:Soul of Man has to be in every collection.

Hard to pick just one , heres a few of my favorites.

Albert Collins - Showdown ( with Johnny Copeland and Robert Cray)

Robert Johnson - The Complete Recordings

Eric Clapton - From the Cradle

Johnny Winter - Let Me In

Texas Flood: SRV

Live at the Regal: B.B. King

Pick one from these 3
Born Under A Bad Sign by Albert King
Folk Singer by Muddy Waters
The Complete Recordings by Robert Johnson
