My music tastes are usually limited to rock music but I recently discovered the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and I think he's just amazing.
I'd like to listen to some more blues but don't know where to start..
If you could recommend a song or two by each band/singer that would be great.
Thank you for your time.

RQ Ok, I am a huge blues fan, but there are many types of blues. I suggest looking these bands/ artists up on the internet first before buying albums. Here are a few names:
- Alligator Records - recording company that holds the largest blues line up in North America
- Cream - all albums - classic rock band but predominately blues
- Led Zeppelin - most of there stuff too, but look at Led Zeppelin II
- John Mayall - just came out with a 5-dic collection called Essentially John Mayall
- The Yardbirds - Masterworks album - has both Clapton and Jeff Beck years
- BB King - any and all
- Allman Brothers - more southern rock/ blues
- Buddy Guy - any and all
- Kenny Wayne Shepherd - 10 Days Out - toured with Double Trouble and went to old blues musicians - great album
- Long John Baldry - if you can find stuff from 1960s is the best
- Albert King - there is an album with him and SRV together
- John Lee Hooker - any and all
- Muddy Waters - any and all
- Howlin' Wolf - London Session album - tons of great artists
- Robert Johnson - original blues master
- Any blues compliation discs are usually good too
If you have any other questions about these artists or any other blues just let me know. Try a guy called Corey Taylor (not the one from Slipknot). He has a song called 'These Feelings Won't Go Away' which is really good. Look up Sky high on cdnow.com. he is awesome. close your eyes and he is Jimi hendrix, B.B. King, and eric clapton all in one. so very many. start with the classics. bb king. muddy watters. buddy guy. these guys influenced so many people. you hear it in jimmy page of led zeppelin. david gilmour of pink floyd. try some robert johnson. clapton has a great blues album. If you like stevie ray vaughn then its almost a cert that you will like JJ Cale Aside from SRV, I also like Gary Moore...

http://www.pandora.com/stations/f2f3c145... I have to agree with 'manoftheblues' answer on Alligator recordfs.
They put out a double album or so every few years that is a GREAT sampling of the artists on their label.
Sounds like you will like the more modern rocky sort of blues, and I think the Alligator stuff will be what you want. kenny wayne shepherd live on is a good listen I also agree with man of the blues...great suggestions You need to listen to Rory Gallagher. He was one of the finest rock/blues guitar players EVER!! Any song of his will hit the spot. bo diddley,i can tell or you cant judge a book by lookin at the cover,or elmore james the sky is cryin plus loads of others by im,or rory gallagher,or specially paul kossoff of free. As you can see, there's loads of 'em. I'd add Johnny Winter & Rory Gallagher, & a big TUp to the guy who mentioned J.J. Cale, a much more 'laid back' style, but a wonderful songwriter. jimi hendrix , red house, voodoo chile, hey joe
b.b king the thrill is gone Start with Albert KIng.He was one of the earliest influences on Stevie. The cd "Born Under A Bad Sign" is a good place to start. You will hear a lot of the influence he had on SRV listening to this.
Next step up to Buddy Guy.Buddy was an enormous influence on Stevie.Stevie did a few Buddy Guy songs on his albums.Stevie played with Buddy many times at Buddy's club in Chicago and Buddy played on the same show the night Stevie died.Try the cd"Damn Right I Got The Blues"
Eric Clapton.Listen to "From The Cradle","Blues" or even better -"John Mayall And The Bluesbreakers".That was E.C. in the early 60's playing some great stuff.
Of course ,I have to include the "Father of the Electric Blues" -McKinley Morganfield.Muddy Waters was the originator of the "Chicago Blues" sound.Find anything by Muddy and you will know what it's all about. The best cd of Muddy in his later years is on CBS Legacy and is entitled "Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live. It's a 2 cd set and worth the price.
I can go on forever,but I hope I gave you a start.
And Alligator Records is based in Chicago and owned and operated by Bruce Iglauer. His artists include the late, great Hound Dog Taylor(a big influence on George Thorogood),Koko Taylor(no relation, but known here as "The Queen Of The Blues"),Son Seals and many other great artists. bb king thrill is gone
eric clapton
