Can anyone tell me the notes for some piano (in c) blues scales? thanks alot! And also If you know the chords to go with that would be great also :) Hi, the only blues scale that I know is
C Eb F F# G Bb C
Not much, but hope it helps! pentatonic minor look it up.. minor blues scale in C - C Eb F G Bb
Major pentatonic in C - C D E G A
Dorian mode in C =must played over a minor chord C D Eb F G A Bb
blues scale in C - C Eb F F# G Bb
keep it up!
chord progression of blues is 1+4+5 then 1 so in the key of C minor it goes Cminor FMajor GMajor and back to Cminor which is the tonic The true "blues scale" is where the real key is major but you play a flatted third, seventh and sometimes fifth--it's kind of playing minor against major.
The C major scale:
C D E F G A B C
C "blues" scale:
C D Eb F G A Bb C
You might want to use Ab sometimes, especially if you are playing against the F chord.
Pentatonic (five note) scales are really cool if you have to improvise, because it almost seems like you never play a wrong note. Guitar players love pentatonic scales.
C Eb F G Bb C
The interesting sound comes from the "clash" of the flatted notes in the melody against the major chords in the accompaniment.
For example; against the C chord (CEG) play C Eb G Bb,
against the F chord (FAC) play F Ab C Eb, against the G chord play G Bb D F.
If the accompaniment is in a minor key, it's cool to play flatted fifths in particular: like C Eb Gb against C minor (CEbG), etc. |
