Whats the best harmonica to use when your learning to play blues? |
Whats the best harmonica to use when your learning to play blues? one for each key note marine band, which have been around a long time and are never overpriced. you can get by with one if it's just you singing always singing in one key. Any blues harp in Key C is good to use but I recommend any Lee Oskar in Key C harmonica or a Hohner Special 20 (about 拢20 on ebay but worth it). a blue 1 My opinions: if you're really good, a "G" i have started out learning harmonica myself recently and i feel a C harp would be the best initially because C major scale does not have sharps. I learnt a bit of blues harmonica (harp) a while ago and we used to have a harp (harmonica) player in a band I used to play in, and the best thing I might suggest-although you are probably fully aware of this- is to find out about playing in a 'cross' style. I'n sure that if you are not aware of this any good harmonica bles book or web site will give you all the info you need and probably explain it much better than I can. You'll have little use for a C harp, because blues is almost exclusively played cross-harp, and the key of G isn't that common in my experience over the past 42 years since I was 16 and bought my Hohner Beatles C harmonica for $1.50. i saw one with a book and dvd i think it was a ceesar check it out it was like 20.00 I'm giving you a link below to a detailed answer. Short and sweet! Lee Oskar or Special 20 tuned to C Major is what the vast majority of experts recommend for beginners. Coast2CoastMusic.com has the harmonicas rated if you don't trust me. Depends on what you want to do? If you get something inexpensive like a Blues Harp or Marine Band Hohner (prob a C, def a wooden core) then you can blow and bend the hell out of it, you can even soak it in water to give it a uniquely bluesy sound, though this will shorten it's life. Or run through two or three even cheaper ones and just go to town on them, carry them with you everywhere, before you move up to something nicer. If you get something more expensive then there is the danger you'll be too responsible. Stay cheap and raw and go from there. Unless you are rich, in which case try the Suzuki harmonicas which have something truely different about the way they play. |
