What is a good bass for playing blues?

i currently own an ibanez soundgear. its a great bass for starters. but i am forming a blues band with some friends and was looking for something thats sounds better for that type of music. any suggestions?

Fender Jazz Master if you can find one.

yamaha trb 5 strings.

Thunderbirds are great basses for any and every style. that body seems to work better on a bass as Firebirds are less special as guitars.

Don't forget a Fender P either

Yeah, I'm with the fender people on this one.

Maybe try some 'ground wound' strings too - will give you nice tone without sounding as dead as flat wound strings.

I think upright bass is the best for blues.

For electrics, you can't go wrong with Fenders. I suggest finding a blues jam in your area and talking to the bass players while really listening to what they sound like.

fender jazz bass. it costs a little over 1000 and it sounds great

Some of the better Fender Basses are great. I had a fretless jazz bass, made by Fender. It was awesome
