Should i join a blues rock baand (sounds like classic rock)?

would i get paid enough to buy a house, car, that kind of stuff?
or do most musicians not make that much

im 14, but i practice for hours on end every day!

Sadly, the highways of music are lined on both sides with the bleached skulls of talented musicians.

You'd be better off doing as my nephew did. He got a BA in guitar from U. N. TX. and makes a solid living as a hired gun.

Very few make it beyond weekend gigs, but don't ever stop playing music unless it ceases to be fun.

I stopped playing bass because it was cruelty to music. But I'm a great fan, very talented at enjoying hearing people play.

Down on the coast of Mississippi, in the Biloxi/Gulfport area, there is a band called Doctor Rock and the Interns, all of them medical doctors who play rock and blues for fun and charity fundraisers (if you play in Mississippi, you must play the blues at times, thank goodness!). So, a medical career would both allow you to afford any equipment you want and give you a chance to enjoy playing music. Plus, you'll be helping people as a doctor.

maybe, no.

There are millions (seriously, millions) of talented musicians in the world. Most of them cannot make a living through music. It's a great side job. Music is a lot of fun. I think the 'rock star dream' is just like the 'pro athlete dream'. You stand a better chance of winning the lottery than becoming a rich through music!

It is PROFOUNDLY unlikely that you will make any money out of it. If you are lucky, you can make enough to enjoy playing. Join the band and have a good time. At 14 you will not be getting paid. What little money there is, is in playing bars and clubs - but for now have fun and enjoy yourself!

As for college - there are TWO ways to go. Study Jazz and go that way, of classical guitar and go that way.

I got a degree in Music education with classical guitar from The College of New Jersey. It is a good school for music education. If you get a performance degree 0 you MIGHT earn a living htat way teaching private lessons, doing session and theater work, plus any side bands you do.

Get into a wedding band - they make better money.

blues rocks maybe wen ur older u can open a guitar shop and sell equipment but theres alot of talent out there that no one has herd one of my fav bands is unsigned cos no1 has heard of them cos there from a small place in northen ireland they sound like the new ac/dc wif a heavier edge

out of all the types of music, blues usually pays the least if at all. But it sure is fun

Just play the music you love to play and don't worry about making money from it. Your only 14 man , ya got a long road ahead of you. The only real reason to play is because you love it , any other reason and your just going through the motions.
