The White Stripes blues elements?

Key characteristics of the Blues?
Their most blues-ey song? analysis with elements of music?

"Icky Thump" is a high energy, abstracted Delta Blues. It leaped out at me right away. Jack White uses combinations of chords and single notes to create a very exciting song. The lyrics are well crafted in the blues tradition, too- changing topics while never losing sight of the song.

The lyrical content must be about the pain and dark side of life...oppression, depresson, prejudice, poor-ness, born in the ghetto...or sinful sexual behavior...

The rhythms have to be slow tempo or dark chords...not bright and shiny melodies...or medium tempo cynically jaded music that speaks of downtrodden experiences and lost lovers...

Ball and Biscuit is reallll bluesy. Also their album The White Stripes has a lot of blues covers. Blues is hard to pin down.

Heard an interesting cover they did of Death letter Blues by Son House.

I think someone had posted the youtube link on this list before.

Icky Thump is such a strong delta blues song. Sounds like an old Charlie Patton tune with the drums .
