As I sit here listening to some live Zeppelin and read your question, I can't help but think of Willie. Then I clicked on your blog link and there by god was a list of really great bands that include my beloved Led Zeppelin. I agree that more people should know where the music they like came from. Preach on Brother!!! Yes. And the contribution made by a lot of other great cats! I call Willie Dixon the father of hard rock. It was Willie's approach to riffs instead of just a standard format that gave us the foundation for so many other great blues and rock songs. Since I'm listening to the Muddy Waters Chess box as I type, I would say yes. One of the great songwriters of modern blues. Also deserves more recognition for his role in the Blues Heaven Foundation. Yes, my favorite "artists" are Keb Mo & Misissippi Fred McDowell ,Bobby "Blue" Bland,B.B. King. >> Yep, the man made an amazing contribution to music......& he was built for comfort. Yes.....Are you aware of the incredible contribution to the music world made by the current award winning Steel National/ Accoustic 12 string Blues Guitar Player Little Toby Walker who has recorded 3 or 4 CDs including the song " On-Line Religion " ?? I think his Spoonful recorded by Cream was my first Willie Dixon song I knew of. Yes, he was a giant. His songs will continue to be recycled in various forms by artists who lean toward the blues or blues/rock. sure he was one of the greatest song writers of all time he wrote some of the best songs Thanks for that information. I'm familiar with some of his stuff, but there's so much more to learn. |
