Can you describe the feeling that happens inside of you when you hear the Blues?

My head just a starts shakin back and forth,
my body begins a rocking front and back,
I start to moans so much,
Then I add my own lines or words,
Can't wait for the next tune or next, or next....?

Anyone???

My, my, my, my, my
Oh baby Why? Why? Why you wanna
make me cry?...

I came to pick the Best Answer,
But Baby I read these, it just won't let me be...read these wonderful answers and you will see why! My, my, my

"Bring your Ma...Bring your Pa...let's take it down to Arkansas." Are you kiddin'? I just want to sing along when I hear the "blues". The best music there is. I like Zydeco also. Am I weird?

walking down a damp softly lit downtown street at midnight listening to the musician on the sax giving up his soul to the night. something like an Art Pepper ballad. there is much blues in jazz.

for myself ,it depend of the song ,i just listend a song today ,it put me out ,im an emotive man ,and the joy tears come from my eyes all along and at the end i but it back,i can t really explaine that ,but that kind of music come inside of me ,i love it ,but you have to have the same feeling to anderstand that .

There are all kinds of blues that give me all kinds of feelings. My first (prolonged)exposure to the blues was an old Jimmy Reed album. The tune "Bright Lights, Big City" was my favorite cut. I felt like nodding my head in agreement and (internally) saying "Yeah, man, that's it. That is IT! I can hear you cryin and I've felt and lived every word you said. That's the down home, nitty-gritty, par excellence, straight skinny."

my foot starts to tap, and I start to feel the groove

When I listen to blues, it soaks into my body, and I can feel the music, in my blood! I can feel the pain, I can feel the toil, I can feel the heartbreak, and it takes me to another time! Even though I didn't experience it, I can see it in my mind!

"Can't wait for the next tune... in that old juke shack"... does that work for you? I hope so!

I'm a blues-rock guitarist, so for me "blues" is a little different from what I do because I classify blues-rock as slightly more aggressive in style (louder, faster, more tube overdrive distortion), but when I hear it I don't feel bad - it makes me feel good!!!

My soul opens up and I get to everything from cryin' to laughin'.

I call it healing.

BLUES THE HEALER

when I'm preforming I get that calm easy feeling its hard to describe . Its a feeling all of its own , the best way I can describe it is by saying "I GOT ME THE BLUES"
Woe ya

check out the song "When A Guitar Plays The Blues" by Roy Buchanan and he tries to explain it. (as far as the feelings we have with blues). I hear some people say that blues are depressing. I don't agree. I figure the first thing each of us has to do is voice our problems before we begin to accept them and move on. And when I hear a blues song I know that the person has accepted theirs and is moving forward. Years ago I went to a blues festival at Music Hall. It was a real classy place chandaliers hanging from the ceiling etc. James Cotton and a number of other stars performed. I'll never forget the feeling I had when I looked around the room and there was such a mix of people. Their were young and old, black and white, and everyone was just moving with the music. I mean rocking back and forth and nobody could sit still. It just gave me such and impression because everyone was fine with each other, no fights at all. It just seemed like everyones differences went out the window and all were at peace with themselves and each other. I know it was the music. I just can't think of any other concert that I've been to where there was no problems. You know what I mean, the guy that's afraid of his own shadow, until he has two beers and then wants to fight the biggest guy around. And the thing was there was alcohol at the blues festival I'm talking about (and the tables only seated 8-10 people) so every race was sitting at the same table because their was no choice. ( I never realized how many older people smoked pot) And there was never a problem nobody got kicked out everything was fine.

I'm with Musicman above. When I hear blues, it feels like something is released inside my body and I can feel it circulate thorough my veins. It starts right in the center of my chest and flows everywhere from there. It's kind of weird I guess. No other from of music does that to me.

soul

I get a tingle inside my belly, then the goosebumps.

I'm 100% serious.

Kevin Chisholm - American Guitarist

I love listening to and playing the blues and love to hear BB King and Eric Clapton playing those guitars. Yeah it makes my head rock back and forth and I love to make up words to guitar chords that I'm playing on my guitar.

It touches a place in my soul and makes me one with the music. All blues does, but it happens espicially when I hear Stevie Ray for some reason. Great question!

I hear the blues
and I start to cruise.
It lets me lose
all the negative news.
It makes me choose
my dancin' shoes;
I sip my booze -
I can't refuse -
I won't excuse
when I hear the blues!!
Oh, mama.........................
