and why do you like that song?
Here's your chance to have your favorite song played and it wont cost you a round for the band .
I'm doing a show in Vancouver and If I like the reason you pick that song I will play it and dedicate to you . provided I know that song (I can play about 300 blues songs not including my own) Wow, tough one to answer!
If I had to absolutely pick one and one only to save my life, well, that might be my last day livin'.... so many truly great ones. One of my favorites is a little obscure:
"Nickel and a Nail" - O.V. Wright - I like this song because it pretty much nails the feeling for me. If all you have is a nickel and a nail, well, things can probaly only get better. Tomorrow I might have a different favorite.
Have a great gig!
Kevin Chisholm - American Guitarist water for the wicked by robben ford :X
shannon by livin' blues, which is a small blues band from holland... if you know it, you could try some johnny lang, maybe darker side or rack 'em up.
bb king always does the trick... how blue can you get or rock me baby. buddy guy - messin with the kid. there are a lot of great blues songs, see what fits :)
i just remembered, there's a lil british band called thunder... they have this amazing blues song - you can't live your life in a day. be sure to check the electric version of the song, i love it Etta James - At Last
I love this song. It's beautiful. Her vocals are so rich and telling. Today I'll say Rope Stretchin' Blues by Blind Blake For me it has to be, the Jimi hendrix version of born under a bad sign..on his blues album. I love the repetative bassline and the way jimi can keep a nine minuite track from getting boring..pure genius, greatly missed. Jorma Kaukonen - Death Don't Have No Mercy
just a fan of Jorma and Rev. Gary Davis I Can't Quit You Babe by Willie Dixon i've always like "couldn'T stand the weather" by Stevie Ray Vaughn. its not only challanging for the person playing(in this case, you) its a great one to listen to jimi hendrix's red house. a great blues guitar song, and great lyrics. it's gotta be "Payin' the Cost to be the Boss" (B.B. King). Today I'll say (nod to Conchobor)
John Paul Hammond's version of Ride 'Til I Die (Jockey's Blues)- he's always better than good, but on this he sounds like at least a three piece combo. Plus the tune has lots of what draws me to the blues-tension & resolution. ice cream by eddie martin. it's got wonderful swampy, sexy feel to it! |
