How has DMB changed the structure of popular American music?

Dave's music is very captivating. As far as changing the structure of popular american music, I don't know if I would go as far as to say they single handedly changed the structure of american music, but they brought a melting pot of different styles more mainstream. It's probably because EVERY member of the band is a BRILLIANT musician. Carter Buford is arguably (in my oppinoin is) the best drummer alive. Boyd Tinsley on Violin is just AMAZING to see live. Leroi Moore is great on saxophone (the only two people I think are even close to his level on a national stage would be the sax player from Bela Fleck and the Flectones, and the one from O.A.R.) And you wouldn't notice it at first but Stefan is REALLY good on bass, don't get me wrong, he's no Victor Wooten. But everytime I've seen Dave live he has surprised me with a bass solo that just grooves. And to have a front man with a voice like Dave who can just captivate a stadium full of people, and all of their stage presence is awesome too. Dave has really brought back the attraction of live music more so than changed the structure of popular American music. Go on Amazon.com and look up Dave Matthews and you'll notice that the majority of his C.D. realeases are Live performances. Anytime you have a series of musicians as talented as the one's on stage for D.M.B. your going to have something special.

I *KNOW* I'm going to say "duh" to myself when you tell me ... what is "DMB"?

No, I don't think DMB has changed the musical landscape in ANY significant way. I find DMB to be very talented in writing, style and performance. I can't say why they weren't 'ever changing' to the face of music, I guess it has more to do with fan base.

Stoner college girls - while being a dynamic unto themselves, tend not to be a large enough segment of the population to warrant a change in the entire social structure of music.
