How many BLUES-ROCK fans do we have on here? |
Please name some of your favorite artists, and tell a little about yourself, and why you like blues-rock. I'm a blues-rock guitarist and want to "connect" with like minded people. In fact, its time for me to practice! Plug in my Les Paul and overdrive some tubes!!! Thanks to all in advance who give cool answers. Saw Joe Bonamassa last night and he was GREAT!!! Also saw John Hammond!!! Later, Joe met with John and we got to talk to both of them - what a night! Joe signed one of my guitars previously, tomorrow night I'm hoping to get John Hammond to sign it to - if you can, go see BOTH of these guys - Joe just keeps on getting better - definitely a rising star!!! Since I am a guitarist, I'm a little biased here. I tend to like music that is guitar-driven. The thing that is kind of special about Blues Rock is that it involves a combination of technique and feel. Well my favorite is Janis Joplin. Do I really need to tell why? Passionate, cool, sweet, tough, beautiful, sexy, talanted, unique. I would consider myself a blues rock fan. Some of my favorite groups/artists are: Ish, I am more of a fan of blue honestly. I've been listening to a lot of Bonnie Raitt lately. Count me in too, though my choices are a little more obscure. >> John Lee Hooker/BB king/Albert Collins/Eric Clapton/Muddy Waters/Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee/Janis Joplin/Jimi Hendrix/John Spencer Blues Explosion/Boss Hogg/The Doors/Rolling Stones/Muddy Puddles/Ash Grunwald/Tom Waits/Chain/Canned Heat/John Mayall/Early Fleetwood Mac etc ~ the list goes on. I'm a guitarist so i've been influenced heavily by some sweet blues guitarists... I know I'm getting old when "older" guitarists are still alive. For blues rock I would first say Kenny Wayne Shepherd because after randomly going to a concert of his (without having heard his music) I was so blown away that I finally bought a guitar. I found out who his influences were and it changed my life. It was my first intro to B.B. King, SRV , Muddy Waters etc. Im a HUGE blues-rock fan. I also am a blues-rock player. My favorites are Chuck Berry, Slash, and Angus Young are my favorite blues-rock players. Robert Johnson is also a blues god. I like SRV, Johnny Winter, Allman Brothers, Elvin Bishop, George Thorogood, Janis Joplin, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa ... I know I'm forgetting some here ... plus many of the traditional blues artists. I've always like the blues -- the feeling of the music -- but I also like to rock. Talk crazy to me. I love musicians. Life is good. My absolute fav's are a sadly missed Stevie Ray Vaughn (fantastic), Bonnie Raitt is really good, Buddy Guy a must, Johnny Winter.......(these I saw in concert as well and have all of their music of course).....oh, and Jeff Beck.....definitely good bluesy rock here.......Allman Bros, Muddy Waters, & John Lee Hooker (last two not such bluesy rock but great nonetheless! I play my own style of blues I call it acid Blues (a mix of metal and blues) does that count |
