Favorite "blues" by a non-blues performer?

Either a true blues, or a tune with blues in the title.

Right now I'll say "My Old Friend The Blues" by Steve Earle

Kit, now you've done it. I'll have to dig out my Bonzo albums. I believe its actually called "Can Blue Men Sing the Whites".

I'd go for either "Tombstone Blues" by Dylan, or "Ventilator Blues" by The Stones. Captain Beefheart's "Dachau Blues" is worth a mention just for being as strange as it sounds

gimme one reason by tracy chapman or mountain cry by blues traveller.

"Traveling Riverside Blues" by Robert Johnson
"Traveling Riverside Blues" by Led Zeppelin
"Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan
"Blues De Luxe" by Jeff Beck
"JB's Blues" by Jeff Beck

"Rainy Night In Georgia" by Brook Benton

or

"Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" by Crystal Gayle.

Tip of my union-made cap for mentioning Steve Earle. His latest CD contains an incredible old-timey sounding delta blues number. Even the recording style sounds 1930s.

Captain Beefheart did more than just "Dachau Blues"

You also have his reverse-evolution blues "Grow Fins", "My Human Gets Me Blues" "Clear Spot" and "Big Eyed Beans From Venus". Just to name a few. He was a Howlin' Wolf imitator extrordinaire before he retired from music.

radiohead or citizen cope

"The Blues Song" by The Dead Milkmen

Red house

Jimmy Hendrickx.
He only left us one blues song but what a song.

Blue - Song by Yngwie Malmsteen

"Yer Blues" The Beatles. Apparently John wrote this one during the blues craze of the 60's when people were pestering him about "Will the Beatles do any blues music?"

Trouble by Travis Trit

Since "Red House" has already been mentioned I'd say "Ball and Chain" by Big Brother and the Holding Company.

Loan Me A Dime by Boz Scaggs

"Can Whites Sing The Blues" by The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band....I couldna help it!
OK.."Roadhouse Blues" or "Shamans' Blues" by The Doors.
You could also throw in "John Walkers' Blues" by Steve Earle too.. PS. You are so right! I'm a Stupid-Head..Arrgh!

As many people mentioned "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix

The Blues version of Voodoo Child is also great

But Jimi would turn in his grave if you call him a non-blues performer

new album "Son of Skip James" by Dion the "old" rock'n'roller from the 60's
it's already his second Blues album, the first was "Bronx in Blue"

Hey......James Taylor sings a mean one called
" Steamroller Blues ! "

Still Got the Blues For You by Gary Moore

An obvious choice to me, has to be Bob Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited". His first electric album and he has Mike Bloomfield playing for him.
