Favorite West Coast blues?

Charles Brown, Lowell Fulson, T-Bone, Percy Mayfield, Jesse Fuller.....

Who's your favorite?

I didn't mean to imply that you need to choose one of the artists listed. They were just the first few that popped into my head. Any west coast based musician is "eligible"

For so many reasons, Charles Brown is the winner. His stylings and innovations paved the way for so many who followed. "Driftin' Blues" is a prime example. Percy's "Please Send Me Someone to Love" was also huge in its influence, but I believe Charles had a much more polished sound and a great band.

not a big fan of blues, but Jesse Fuller was an exceptional talent

Just to be smug, I'll say "West Coast Blues" by Blind Blake (even though its a piedmont style) ...

Martin, I gotta go T-Bone just for his influence on everyone that came after.

West Coast? Lowell is a great player, but I'll take Chris Cain.. He's a monster player with a great voice..

if I had to chose from your list I would say T-Bone Walker

I assume you mean people who either originated and/or currently live on the West Coast, which I define as California, Oregon & Washington (I don't know where all my favs originated or currently reside, so I'll limit it to those I'm sure of). Assuming such:

Charlie Musselwhite (if I had to name only one - which I won't -Charlie would be it), Little Charlie & the Nightcats, Mitch Woods & His Rocket 88s, Chris Cain, The Elvin Bishop Band, The Tommy Castro Band, Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, The Lara Price Band, Steve Lucky & the Rhumba Bums, The J. C. Smith Band, The Reno Jones Band, The Shane Dwight Band, Dave Alexander (aka, "Omar Shariff")

Jimmy Witherspoon, based in L.A. is all I can think of.

Charlie Musselwhite is a Mississippian, Charles Brown was from Baton Rouge, T-Bone from Texas, and I don't know where anyone lives!

andy santana, little charlie and the night cats mick martin and the blues rockers

My old bud Levi lloyd!

T-bone is from Texas and "Texas blues" was born out of his style.
My favorite west caoster are Mark Hummel and Rod Piazza. Two of the best harp players ever.

Tough question, but for West Coast born and bred, I've got to go with the late, great William Clarke.

T-Bone Walker, Lowell Fulson, PeeWee Crayton, Floyd Dixon, Joe Lewis Walker, Philip Walker, Charles Brown.
