I like a lot of different types of music but was wondering if...?

anyone could recommend some good new blues artists or maybe someone I haven't checked out. I've got mass quantities of the old stuff i.e B.B King, Lightnin' Hopkins, Buddy Guy, Roy Buchanan, Michael Bloomfield, Shoogie Otis, Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, etc. Any Clues?

idk any blues singers not into it

mm Stevie Ray Vaughan, although its not new, and i dont know anyone newer actually. you can hear Eric Johnson too

Keb Mo.

The Northernblues label has a lot of good artists. Watermelon Slim is on there.
Also try Jimmy Thackery and go to Youtube.

Listen to "Ball and a Biscuit" by The White Stripes.
The vocalist/guitarist is Jack White.
He's into the roots.

*Also: Absolutely, this weekend, go out and get
introduced to Doyle Bramhall II the way I did.
He plays as Eric Clapton's sideman in...

"Sessions For Robert J".

It's a Cd/Dvd released in 2005 and none other
than Billy Preston plays keyboard throughout.
The acoustic set was recorded physically at
the address and I believe, very room that
Robert Johnson put down his work.

Bramhall II and White are the two BEST "new" ones
I know of. Truest to the roots.

For some of us THAT is what it's about.

Thanks.

Harmonica Shah, Dion has made two great blues albums in the last couple of years, Eric Bibb, Harry Manx, Jeremy Spencer.

Freddie King
Johnny Lang
Jimmy Vaughan ( Stevie's brother)

Alligator Records has good anthology releases from time to time showcasing the newer artists.

Try listening to the internet blues radio stations. I found out about a lot of artists that I hadn't heard of before, including Joe Bonamassa and Walter Trout. I usually listen to "Absolute Blues Hits" on the Apple iTunes internet blues stations. A download of iTunes is available for PC users for free.

In consideration to what you mentioned Robert Cray is new

AL green,Eric Clapton, govt mule with warren hanes ,

jonny lang, joe bonamassa, robert cray, stevie ray vaughan, jimmie vaughan, etc.

Skip James and Howlin Wolf are my favorite blues artists to listen to

Well Jimmy Thackery isn't new, and has been around for about 35 years, but he is good!

Danny Gatton died young, but he was good (website link below). He didn't always play blues, though.

The newest I can think of is John Mayer (when he plays blues, look out!)

you named a lot of greats, try some tab benoit, taj mahal, keb mo, lonnie mack, lonnie brooks, koko taylor, kim wilson, susan tedeschi, ana popovic, king bees, luther allison, johnny copeland, johnnie johnson, jimmy thackery, john hammond, etta james, joe bonamassa, early george thorogood, and on and on. one thing i've learned is that no matter how long you've been listening to blues, there is still so much out there that you've never heard and never will hear unless you hunt for it. and that goes for old and new. serius satellite's blues channel has been the best way i've found to keep learning.

Great selection of the older artists.. I really enjoyed Bloomfield and Buchanan years ago.. but newer stuff? I like Chris Cain from the SF. Bay Area.. Robben Ford, Garth Webber, Volker Strifler and a good all around guy.. Johnny Nitro.

try Anthony Gnomes , Man can he ever put on a show

Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Bessie Smith, Bonnie Bramlett.
