Any good, gutsy, HONEST Etta James blues tracks? An album would be best?

I got an album a long time ago with Etta James singing five songs live;
Baby What you want me to do
Drown in my own tears,
Dust your Broom
I'd Rather Go Blind,
Stormy Monday

Anyways... I tried searching on itunes for similar but, saidly it was all BS studio recorded stuff that was not near as "real" sounding as her live recordings. She was definately an artist who shone 20x better live than in the studio (which is VERY rare) Anyways... my question...
Does anyone know of an album that she has done of just LIVE blues. That stuff is awesome, and I can't get enough. Thanks!

Btw... if you know the name of the guitarist from a live recording of Stormy Monday, you will be my hero forever. That guy was friggin AWESOME!!!
Thanks!

With all respect, I can't say I agree with your assessment. I think Etta made some of the finest soul, r & B, and blues records of the fifties and sixties. Tell Mama and At Last are two great albums. Two live albums I like ar Burning Down the House (recorded at the House of Blues) and LIve in San Francisco. Sorry, since I don't know what recording you are referring to, I can't help with the name of the guitarist.

theres an album called Summer Heat released in 1997 that has the songs you mentioned. Ladies sing the blues released 1998 by billie holiday, etta james and dinah washington has 18 songs.

sorry cant help with guitar player.hope this info helps

Blues to the Bone from 2004. Early Etta get Tell Mama and Roll With Me Henry.

i gotta say that Deep In The Night is my favorite album without a doubt. she does The Eagles "Take it to the Limit" with a full gospel choir that will blow your mind! also a gospel song called "strange man" and a different version of "blind girl" that will both make you cry. and a remake of Kiki Dee's "sugar on the floor" that is also amazing. even if you don't think this is a best answer, PLEASE listen to this album, it's truly one i couldn't live without. i listen to it every time i'm feeling down and always feel so much better afterwards.
