Electric blues players?

A question similar to this has probably been asked before, but does anyone know any good blues (rock) guitarists similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robby Krieger (L.A. Woman album)? I prefer stuff more in the 60's/70's range. Please don't mention Eric Clapton... However, anyone like B.B. King and Albert Kink is great too!

*King

No Jimmy Pages either.

Joe D: Thanks. I've heard a lot about John Lee Hooker.

See Martin Crouch's answer, anyone who gave him a Thumbs Down has no clue about good electric blues...sorry but Kenny Wayne Shepard and Johnny Lang get a thumbs down no matter that a few good ones were including along with them.

Also, Freddy King, Jeff Beck (early stuff)Amos Garret (Butterfield's Better Days), Duke Robillard, Robin Trower, Ry Cooder, Muddy Waters, Hubert Sumlin (Howlin' Wolf Band) Luther Allison,

But no one beats Albert King, The Velvet Bulldozer!

The thumbs down just proves that there are a lot of people who really don't know nuthin' about the blues....and can't tell a wanna be from the real thing. These thumbs downers didn't provide any answers of their own it seems... Report It

Bunch of haters in this room. This wasn't a poularity contest, just an opinon Report It

Johnny Winter - I think you'll dig Johnny Winter.

You might also dig Houndog Taylor.

Also check out Alvin Lee

Check out my cousin's music.. He was a great friend of Stevie, and I'm sure you'll like his music...Go here: www.lonniemack.com
OR,,, here's another buddy of mine,,, that'll knock your sox off; he used to play with "The Swampers"... www.wayneperkins.com

2 great living electricnblues players are Popa Chubby & Conrad Oberg----You can check them both out on You Tube

I like John Lee Hooker (Hooker also did some good stuff with Canned Heat)

also Duane Allman (Allman's covering Hoochie Coochie Man, Dimples)
Leslie West (big fat guy from Mountain)-In my opinion a very underrated guitarist

can't believe I forgot about these:
"Lonesome" Dave Peverett & Rod Price-Foghat
Alvin Lee-Ten Years After
Steve Miller-before Jet Airliner, etc Steve Miller Band was known as the Steve Miller Blues Band

Seems you may be more interested in blues-rock players?

(60s - 70s)

Mike Bloomfield-Butterfield Blues Band, Electric Flag, etc

Elvin Bishop-Butterfield " " " ", Elvin Bishop Band

Peter Green-Fleetwood Mac

Rory Gallagher-Taste, solo

Roy Buchanan

Danny Gatton

Paul Kossoff-Free, Backstreet Crawler

(some of these are more blues than rock & vice versa)
There are many more, but that should be a good start.

Try listening to 1.FM Blues or Absolute Blues HIts on iTunes internet radio. That's where I learned about Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, Snowy White, Rory Gallagher and many more. This is a blues-rock oriented station, so its a good source to check. The iTunes program is available as a free download for PCs via the Apple website. I listen to this station almost all the time when I am listening to internet radio - and without it I wouldn't have a "blues station" from the regular radio airwaves, so its pretty cool to have it.

Alvin Lee
Rick Derringer
Johnny Winter
Gary Moore
Jimi Hendrix
Robert Cray

Robbie Krieger is blues? Well anyway personal favorites of mine are Mike Bloomfield, Kim Simmonds (Savoy Brown), Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Roy Buchanan, Johnny Winter, Jimmy Johnson, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Buddy Guy, ...
All the ones you mentioned are also among my favorites. But Robbie Krieger? Hes great, but blues?

Some of the better new ones that have alot of old time feeling is:
Walter Trout
Bob Tognoni
Chris Aaron
Lance Lopez
Wes Jeans
Warren Haynes
Check out Grooveyard Records and the samples cause you can hear alot of these guys and more of that sound.

At the risk of stating the obvious - - -
What about Jimi Hendrix, John Mayall, Peter Green, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, Mike Bloomfield, David Gilmore (of Pink Floyd), Gary Moore, Mick Taylor, Roy Buchanan, Otis Rush, Robert Cray, Keb Mo, Tab Benoit, Coco Montoya, Smokin' Joe Kubek, Debbie Davies, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, and of course there is my very favorite blues guitar player of all time Kim Simmonds (of Savoy Brown).
