Blues artists?

I am a blues junkie, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any "little known" musicians I may not have heard. I appriciate any suggestions, and if wanted the favor can and will be returned!!

I'm in love with Precious Bryant at the moment.
but usually I'm more of a Big Bill Broonzy kind of girl.
Check this guy's blog out- he keeps coming up with good stuff:

Sylvester Weaver
Lonnie Johnson (okay, folks know him, but he's WAY underrated)
Harvey Hull
Sloppy Henry
Sweet Peas Spivey
Champion Jack Dupree
Albinia Jones

lol - oh, and since I'm not so very known (or so very talented) I will toss in a shameless plug ;)

Google up Wayne Perkins, and Lonnie Mack. look for Wayne's album "Mendo Hotel".. You will not be let down!

Some great living Blues artists are ( award winning ) Little Toby Walker + Popa Chubby + Conrad Oberg-----They are all out of sight !

The best obscure and current blues artist that I know is a harmonica player by the name of Jason Ricci. To me, he is the Hendrix of the mouth harp. I've seen him live three times in a few small bars in Knoxville and in Springfield, Ohio. (Amazing live). Check out his website!

Larry Davis, Harmonica Shah, Jimmy Rogers, Johnny Shines, Jimmy Lane (Jimmy Rogers son ), Carey Bell, Magic Slim and the Teardrops.

Eddie Cotton, Jr. and the Mississippi Cotton Club, from Jackson, Mississippi. Brilliant showman and handles his Telecaster quite well.

I'll list a few of my favorites with my favorite CDs.

GUITAR
Lindsey Alexander (Someone's Cookin In My Kitchen)
Luther Allison (Reckless)
Joanna Connor (Big Girl Blues)
Magic Sam (West Side Soul)
Nick Moss & The Fliptops(First Offense)
Bobby Radcliff ( Dresses Too Short)
Dave Specter (Live In Europe)
Maurice John Vaughan (Dangerous Road)
Carl Weathersby (Don't Lay Your Blues On Me)
Jody Williams (Return of A Legend)
PIANO
Big Maceo ( The Bluebird Recordings 1941-1942)
HARMONICA
George "Wild Child" Butler ( Sho' Nuff)
Lester Davenport (I Smell A Rat)

Hope this helps.

little known is relative. Rather than list a lot of early blues players you may already be familiar with, I'll mention a couple that are currently (or in one case, recently) active.

Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers
James Harman Band
Tom Ball & Kenny Sultan
Gary Primich (died several months ago)

have you checked out the tommy castro band ...awesome band and tc is someone you need to check out.. jams with the best of the best cray, bb king, clapton, buddy guy..amd many others

I just tune in to "Absolute Blues HIts" on Apple iTunes.

And me - you've never heard of me. I play blues-rock guitar. I think I will be a little better known next year.

John Hammond and Jonny Lang

Tab Benoit
Anders Osborne
