Epiphone Les Paul studio pickup question? |
I just bought an Epiphone Les Paul Studio. According to Epiphone's site it has Alnico classic humbuckers. I also have on hand a late 70's Gibson neck pickup and a Tonerider Alnico IV bridge pickup that I'd planned on putting in another guitar. Would it be worth swapping the stock Epiphone pup's for the others I have on hand? Blues all the way. As for amp, right now I only have an IBZ10 practice amp, but will eventually be looking for a decent tube amp. hey man, don't let them bag on your axe. An Epi will do the job just fine. See if the Tonerider will fit in the hole, if it does, then put it in. It 'll give you a more acustic sound, like a hollow body should sound. definitely... thats one of the first things to go if you are buying a budget guitar, It's one of the things they cut corners on. Heck yes swap them out, Epiphones aren't exactly quality guitars. Better yet, sell the thang and buy a Gibson Les Paul. I am a blues bass player and I use a 1963 Fender Jazz Bass, I would never play a pile of crap. If you can swing a Dimarzio Super Distortion Humbucker, then stick one of those in the treble spot. The best advice I can give you is (keep in mind I am a professional Musician), get rid of your other guitars and by a real Gibson custom , Gretch, or a Yamaha half body. |
