A new found love for blues?

I love blues but I know nothing about it. I like the more rock and roll (i guess heavier) style. I love the black keys. Do you now any other bands like this that i can check out?

You might dig Rory Gallagher- amazing Irish blues musician who lived and breathed blues guitar. GREAT songwriter, and considered by many to be one of the very best guitarists who ever lived. Definitely more rock-oriented blues- very cool music!
Someone once asked Jimi Hendrix what is was like to be the best guitarist in the world- Hendrix replied: "Ask Rory Gallagher." Also check out Gary Moore.
Here's 3 prime live Rory vids

Willie Dixon, Howling Wolf, Elmore James.

If you want a little more "rock" sound, check out Johnny Winter, SRV, Elvin Bishop

and if you reall wanna get some vision of culture, and diversity in blues, check out a italian blues artist, called, zucchero, or succhero, anyhow, youtube a song called senza una donna, "means without a woman" incredible rock, bluesy song, and he is a huge draw in italy and us

The Grateful Dead

I've always loved the blues, but never knew what it was or how to start checking out the bands (of course, I bought BB King -- who didn't? -- but it stopped there). Since you love rock, you might try what I did. I'm a fan of George Thorogood, and he has covered numerous blues tunes over the years -- it's really the basis of his music. I started collecting GT's music, looking at the original authors, and going back to those musicians, buying their music. For example, Madison Blues sent me looking for an Elmore James CD. One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer sent me to John Lee Hooker (there's a JLH song on every GT album/CD). Howlin' for My Baby took me to Howlin' Wolf (now one of my absolute favorites). You can do that with many rockers -- so many have covered old blues songs.

Anyway, to answer your question, here's some contemporary blues that rocks: Geo Thorogood, Joe Bonamassa, ZZ Top, Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat, Buddy Guy (awesome), Ten Years After, Canned Heat.

Try The Black Keys label Fat Possum for artists.
