What pickups should I get? |
I plan on getting an American Deluxe Fender Stratocaster with all single coil pickups. I'm thinking about getting either a set of EMG's or Seymour Duncan's. I like to play alternative, grunge, blues, jazz, and metal. A few of my favorite bands are Pink floyd, Led zeppelin, U2, Rush, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Oasis, Coldplay, The Beatles, Audioslave etc. There's too much to count. The Reason I picked a Strat is because I like to have both the crunch and bell like sounds. Plus I'm a big fan of David Gilmour, Jimi Hendix Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Richie Blackmoure. Duncan makes single sized buckers. I have a Yamaha Pacifica thats set up like a fat strat. (full bucker in the bridge rest single) Ford! Get the Seymour Duncan stacks. They can ring clean or grunge without any of that Strat hum. Just buy a Strat with 2 single-coils, and a Humbucker in the bridge area Dude why don't you buy a guitar you don't have to change out pickups. For what you'll pay for an American Deluxe Strat you could own a G&L Legacy that is made by George Fullerton and Leo Fender and is what a Strat should be, don't buy a Strat till you play a G&L, believe me you'll love it. Between the SDs and EMGs, I'd suggest you go with the EMGs as they are quite versatile in any genre. Although before you choose between SDs and EMGs i would highly recommend you also check out Lace Sensor pickups. i just put a set of zakk wylde signature EMGs in my Gibson Les Paul and they KICK BUTT!!! i play allot of Ozzy, GNR, hair bands zepp and ac/dc. you wont go wrong with these pickups i promise. the sustain is never ending and very bright. plus if you add some distortion lol your neighbors will hate you more than mine hate me. i have many guitar as you can see in my profile, and they dont come close to the one with the EMGs. good luck and GO WYLDE!!!!! Seymour Duncans have a beautiful tone. You simply add the spices you desire. |
