Is Alex Trebeck a sexist?

I am a longtime Jeopardy fan. However, I've only recently been picking up on the sly Alex Trebeck comments which degrade females.
Example from tonight's show: When the one female contestant got the Daily Double, he said something like, "Oh and the young lady is putting up a fight"...as if females can't compete!
Anyone else heard this stuff from him?

If this one (tonight) was the only time, yes I would I agree...maybe I took it out of context.
But I hear this stuff all the time A few weeks back...
2 guys, one girl on panel. The category was football. The girl swept the column and Trebeck sais something like: Wow, who said ladies don't know football?

Possibly. He's in the generation that has a lot of sexists. The only thing I can remember reading about him is that he lived with his mother forever, then married a very young woman, like 19, and had some kids.

I think you are looking pretty deep. If you take things out of context, you can make anybody look like a sexist, a racist, a homophobe, a pedpophile, pretty much any nasty thing you want. Seems to me a comment like you have pulled out of hundreds of thousands of words could also be construed as a compliment, a challenge to the other contestants, or any of a number of different possibilities.

And if a man swept the board on cooking questions, would it also be sexist for him to say "who says men don't know their way around a kitchen?" Come one, you are being ridiculous, if he was truly sexist he would not have lasted so many years in the same show. Go watch somebody else! There is no Don Imus here!
