Do you think Johnny Depp is overrated?

As an actor he can really excell. When he's left to do his own thing he can create a truly deep character (as in Capt Sparrow or even Willy Wonka). Unfortunately the Pirates movies have been marketed into the ground and Mr Depp has been swept along with them.

If the marketing directors would present him as something other than a "mysterious, dark hearthrob" he'd be seen as a greater talent.

i have mixed feelings about him. sometimes he seems like a great actor with varying range, and other times it seems that he just plays the same character over and over and is put out there to be a heart throb so it's hard to take him seriously. he was excellent in fear and loathing in las vegas, he really threw himself into that role and became hunter, but since then, he hasn't really impressed me.

I think Johnny Depp is an awesome actor..He can do alot of different roles..but i especially like when he plays wierd roles..

no he is an amazing actor..he does stuff that a lot of actors r afraid to do n thats what i love about him...n hr can pull off all those crazy roles.. :))
