Does everyone think Avril Lavigne is punk?

I think she's more pop than Kelly Clarkson! If she's punk, it's just barely. If she's punk, it's mostly because of the look. I'm gonna say that she's pretty much pop, especially her new stuff.

I actually enjoy quite a few of her songs, but rumors are that she is arrogant and I think it shows on her new cd and in her interviews. If you like her music, voice and style, check out Paramore's cd. Good songs are "Born for This", "CrushCrushCrush", "We Are Broken", and "Misery Business." They remind me of her, only nicer.

Am I the only one who thinks "When You're Gone" sounds annoying and isn't deep at all? THAT song is far from punk.

Punk is more a set of ethics and ideologies than a genre of music. They were putting socially and politically charged messages in a fast and sloppy type of rock because it was more about the ability to express your frustrations and anger than technical ability. It has always been more about the message than the music, even tho, now, there is a clearly identifiable type of music that you can call "punk".

Avril Lavigne releases pop songs and is marketed by how she dresses. Her songs don't have a message, just catchy choruses for the purpose of appealing to a wider audience. With a little bit of research, anyone can see that Avril Lavigne is almost completely opposite from "punk".

Avril Lavigne used to be pseudo-wannabe punk trapped in the body of an angsty teenage girl. Now she wants to be a super girly girl which is even more annoying. Do the lyrics " Hey hey you you, I want to be your girlfriend!" scream punk to you?

i Do b/c of how she dresses and also her attitude with alot of ppl. she's been kinda know as a punk attutude person. But her song when your gone and girlfriend are really good songs! i love em! also i give her alot of credit for staying married too. b/c alot of girls that got married at her age got divorced like the next month after they got married. I also love her hair!
