About a stupid thing Whoopi Goldberg said......?

She defended on The View, Michael Vick's actions in his dog scandal...said it was a southern tradition to pit dogs against one another? WHAT? How about a moral decision not to do such things or defend a man that would purposely hurt dogs for money?

As a Southerner, I find it disgusting to even be associated with someone who participates in such heinous events. I know alot of people don't share the same views on animal treatment as me, and that's okay. Differences are what keep the world interesting. It saddens me though that an entire geographical region is assumed to be tolerant of something like that. A-holes aren't only confined to the South, Whoopi. To all those who say slavery was a "southern" tradition, let me correct you in saying that slavery was commonplace in all the colonies/states in that time, it just happened to be a northerner who thought to end it.

I don't think he was really defending him just pointing out something. Since I've moved to Georgia I actually have been invited to dog fights. I thought the idea was disgusting but the guys who invited me thought it was the best thing ever. They just didn't see the problem. So yes, for some people dog fighting is just another thing like boxing, racing or football.

She wasn't defending his actions. She was basically saying that she understood how he could get mixed up into something of this nature b/c of where he was from.

I too am from the South and I know many places where dog fights are conducted. Young boys did it on a regular basis when I was growing up. No $$ exchanged hands, but it occurred regularly. I've never been to any of them b/c I think it's stupid. Why watch dogs fight, when I can watch humans?

People purposely hurt animals and other humans on a daily basis. Are you gonna go around blasting each and every one of them as well? You need to wake up and become a part of the real world. People do bad sh** every day. People say things and defend people every day. Get over it!

The only reason why we're even discussing this specific occurrence is b/c Vick is a famous person. Point-blank.

I don't agree with killing them, but fighting them shouldn't be illegal.
