Violin Bridge: What's the difference between a high, medium, and low bridge for a 4/4 violin?

What sound quailty do you get with

high?

medium?

low?

For instance, do you get a higher sound or lower sound.

Which, if any, bridge helps you stay in tune better?

Thanks!

I have never heard of such a thing. The violin bridge is cut so that the string height is a certain height above the fingerboard. Most violinist prefer it to be at the usual height but I guess some might like it a bit higher or lower. It would just be a preference for the action (string height above the fingerboard) ; it would not affect the sound nor would it help your violin stay in tune better.

A high action would be more difficult to play and a low action might cause the strings to buzz aganist the fingerboard.. I have never met anybody who did not want it cut to the standard height.

Fiddlers like to have their bridge cut flatter so that it is easier to play double stops.

they would be used for big hands and complex movements or fingering with violin,so it depends on many things, when from a high note to low, does it not feel right you may need do change, plus you get more room the bow,and thus, providing you a range of easy tone sliding.
