Bb Clarinet All District Tryouts Scale Names?

Does anyone know how I can figure out what the scales are called?

Ok, if they call out the scale as Concert C Major then you will want to play your D Major scale. You get that by taking it up 2 half steps C to C# C# to D.

With those auditions you need to be careful, it all depends on the judge for what they will call. If they say Concert C Major then you take it up 2 half steps. If they say Your C Major then you play your scale starting on C.

If everyone comes out of the audition saying "OMG I had to play X scale" then you need to know that scale. So a tip is to hang out for a while before your audition and see what they might be calling.

You should practice scales calling them both ways, so you don't panic in the audition and forget.

You should go to the music store and get a good fingering chart. Then you should go to your teacher and ask him/her for the most common major and minor scales that you will most likely be asked to play. He/she will be able to help you fill out a piece of notebook paper to act as a study guide to prepare for your audition.

search it on yahoo

I'm guessing you should know most if not all of your major scales (all of them in concert pitch are Gb, Db, Ab, Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, A, E, B, F#/Gb) You might need some minors but it depends on the level of competition.
